  • I’m so tired of this growing segment of the fanbase thinking that Bagent has a future as a starting QB, let alone as a GOOD starting QB or as a franchise savior for us. Look, it’s not impossible for him to eventually develop into that. But the odds of that happening are really really slim. Plus does anyone seriously trust this regime or the next one to be able to develop him into that sort of guy? I’m very happy that we were able to find a D2 UDFA who is capable of being a decent backup and a game manager who can win a game in specific situations. Frankly, that is amazing in and of itself. But we have to stop putting this guy on a pedestal and thinking that he’s something he’s not. He’s not Tom Brady, he’s not even Brock Purdy. Maybe in a few years he’ll be capable of being our starter if the next 1st round QB flames out too. But we seriously need to pump the brakes with our assessments and expectations of this guy.

  • Eberflus: “Hey, can I talk to you for a sec?”

    Chicago media: “Yeah, hey!”

Eberflus: “Hey, um, I came up with a really great idea, dude.”

    Chicago media: “Yeah?”

Eberflus: “I’m gonna play both sides.

Chicago media: “Why would you tell me that?”

    Eberflus: “Should I not have?”

Chicago media: “Probably shouldn’t, because if you’re trying to keep a secret from me, well, now I know.”

Eberflus: “Should I tell the Panthers?”

Chicago media: “No, I don’t think you should tell either side because if you’re trying to play both sides and they both know you’re not playing anybody.”

Eberflus: “What should I do now?”

Chicago media: “I don’t give a shit. Why are you here?”

  • Calling it now. Our next head coach is going to be Frank Smith. He’s 42, the Dolphins OC, and was the Bears TE coach from 2015 to 2017. This will initially seem like a great hire because he’s young, he’s an offensive minded guy, and he’s coming out of the Mike McDaniel offense. However, he’s never had to call his own offense and probably isn’t ready to be a HC yet. He’s only in his second year as an OC under a genius who calls his own offense. He’s a TE and OL coach by trade. He will fucking fail royally and we’ll be in the exact same spot in like 3 years. This is what the McCaskeys do. They get so close to getting things right and then just left turn off a fucking cliff.
