I honestly think it was just a slip of the tongue. It felt like he was trying to play along with the NFL’s rules about the definition of Questionable vs Doubtful vs Out to leave the possibility open and force the Panthers to game plan for it. Because technically there’s another day where he could theoretically get medically cleared, and then he’d play. But then let it slip that “Yeah, he’s not playing.” And then immediately went back to the vague “Doubtful” line.

Could be the case, but didn’t the OC already say the gameplan was going to be the same if it were Fields or Bagent?

Eberflus: “Hey, can I talk to you for a sec?”

      Chicago media: “Yeah, hey!”

Eberflus: “Hey, um, I came up with a really great idea, dude.”

      Chicago media: “Yeah?”

Eberflus: “I’m gonna play both sides.

Chicago media: “Why would you tell me that?”

      Eberflus: “Should I not have?”

Chicago media: “Probably shouldn’t, because if you’re trying to keep a secret from me, well, now I know.”

Eberflus: “Should I tell the Panthers?”

Chicago media: “No, I don’t think you should tell either side because if you’re trying to play both sides and they both know you’re not playing anybody.”

Eberflus: “What should I do now?”

Chicago media: “I don’t give a shit. Why are you here?”
