The Panthers look BAD. Nothing i saw from Bryce Young yesterday wowed me. Tyson looked like the better QB since both were missing throws. Not a good sign for a #1 overall pick. Jenkins seemed to have a bad game he was getting tossed around. But it happens i think it was just one of those games. Overall we looked like a really bad team that barely beat and even worse team. Nothing much to hang our hats on besides the fact that the Panthers are probably getting us the first overall pick this year.
We went 2-2 with an undrafted D2 QB. That in and of itself is something to hang your hat on.
Jenkins’ struggles surprised but it happens — also, Derrick Brown is perhaps under the radar pretty, pretty good? At least one piece had him pegged to have a big breakout year in 2023.
But yeah, the Panthers somehow both showed how much worse it could be while still revealing how bad off we are that it was such a struggle to play them. I feel for them.
Run game/foreman looked great and our D held them to 2 field goals which is incredible considering they started with solid field position multiple times. Dexter and pickens flashed as well and brisker had a great game. The Neck almost pulling an urlacher with that snatch at the end too. This could be a really good defense with another good edge.
Montez Sweat really makes a huge difference. We finally have someone getting pressure. The ripple effect thru the rest of our defense was significant.
Early returns look good. Potential W for Poles.
Here is your fun fact this morning.
Our first four games we allowed 17 sacks on the season. Since then, our last 6 games we allowed 14. Teven’s return has been so huge for us. I know Tyson is getting the ball out quicker but Teven is playing so well.
It’s almost like a different QB who throws the ball quicker, making a difference on how many sacks a team gives up…
How many 0 sack games does Fields have in his career?
Last 4 full games + Minnesota bagent sacked 5 times.
In that same 5 game stretch, Fields was sacked 4 times… yes, that’s right 4x in Minnesota before leaving mid way in the 3rd quarter…
Next week, Fields will start being sacked a bunch, and the narrative will be wow, that dline is fantastic on the lions.
Bryce Young looked brutal. All his passes looked so wobbly.
First time I’ve really watched him play this year. I assumed the bad record was because of the Panthers being a bad team and Young being a rookie, but he legitimately looked terrible. There weren’t even moments where you saw things that made you optimistic he’d make it eventually, he just looked small, weak and worst of all…lost. If I’m a Panthers fan, that’s really concerning because there’s nothing he can do about his height, size or arm strength and if he can’t overcome those with ELITE mental skills he’s not going to last long in the league at all.
He looked worse than Bagent and that’s not great for them considering they may end up having traded a 9th pick, 1st pick, and 2nd round pick and DJ Moore for him and Bagent is an UDFA from D2.
Frank Reich is the guy who taught Eberflus everything he knows and the Panthers OC legit only has experience coaching RBs.
I’d like to see what he can do under a better staff
We false started a kneel-down.
They’re not used to victory formation.
Honestly, Eberflus looks so lost and confused all the time I’m surprised the team looked as good as it did.
I was more concerned about the false start on a fg attempt
For real. Can’t remember the last time I saw that.
Nobody’s seemed to mention him so I will; Tyler Scott needs more reps.
Dude seems to be able to get separation, has had some real tough catches completed despite concerns over his hands.
Would like to see Getsy getting him more involved with Fields coming back.
Im ready to see Justin with finally a decent Oline and improving defense.
This is his time to make things work for him
I don’t care of it was an ugly game, a win just feels nice
Out of all of the Bears games I have watched over my almost 27 years of living on this earth, that was certainly one of them
Sooo what exactly were those tricks we had up our sleeve?
Giving them false confidence by “letting” them convert on 1st & 30.
Actually winning, nobody saw that galaxy brain strategy coming from Flus.
“Officially the tricks are doubtful, but we’ll see where they’re at throughout the week, ok right, they’re day to day but just not there yet, so it’s really about a 51% chance that we have tricks, 49% chance tricks are OUT and a 100% chance that I am a boob despite the fact that I’ve never seen or touched one in real life.” Matt Everflus
Spending all week convincing Carolina ST that 59 Yards at Soldier Field is a makeable Field Goal.
A Young team learning to win ugly, is Good.
In that way, it was a big win last night.
This is exactly how I feel. Last year we lose that game.
Glad we won.
Matt Eberful and Luke Getsy BARELY beat the worst team in the league that had half of their defensive starters out. This game should have been over at halftime. We should have absolutely demolished this team. They won DESPITE coaching. I’m happy we got the W as always. But those two need to go like yesterday. BOOTY UP, BEAR DOWN AND FTP
How many games do you see the Panthers winning the rest of the year? I see 1 or 2 max.
Top 3 pick looking like a lock, top 2 pick likely if Arizona and NE pull out a few wins.
