I just scrolled through the responses here. Unbelievable how sensitive everyone is to this post. I don’t even know what there is to argue here. The OP doesn’t even say what you should or shouldn’t do but just because it doesn’t support the narrative of draft their QB they want they’re flipping out.
Or, the opposite point, take as many shots as you can at draft picks. It’s a numbers game.
I think people are committed to just saying the offense is “bad” no matter what they see. Against the Lions, that was a good offensive performance. I actually do think the offense is improving and good enough to win. I think expectations in this sub are pretty ridiculous. Expecting the backup QB to drop 20-30 a game.
If they come out and put up 17 points with turnovers yes, that is a bad performance. I will actually change my opinion on watching the game.
I agree, that’s my point. We tend to be hard on them when watching, then I watch these other teams and they really don’t look bad.
Thanks for the insight not related to the post.
Why don’t you give me a prediction of how much this bad offense will score against the Vikings and Lions the next two games?
Il bet you they average 25 per game in each of those.
Agree with you but at some point, you have to step back and say - I don’t care who’s playing QB, no excuse for an offense to average more than 10 points a game. That’s on the coaches. The offense still has talent.
I’ll also say, it’s their fault for letting Rodgers dictate that all of his posse has to come with him.
That’s my point, Bears suddenly look as bad as I think when I watch the majority of other teams in the NfL.
Aaron Rodgers single-handedly destroyed this teams season…
It makes zero sense to get rid of Poles.
I really want someone to explain it to me based on what he’s done to date.
This roster is leaps and bounds better than last year. Yes, the wins haven’t come but he’s built a decent roster from nothing with healthy cap space and a lot of draft capital.
Sorry, but anyone coming into this year expecting playoff run was incredibly delirious. Nobody, outside of Chicago had that expectation.
I think we’re going to see this roster be even better next year, to start over makes no sense.
Agree, that said, I’m bummed his bomb to Scott didn’t work out. It seemed like a great pass and potentially could’ve begun changing the narrative. That said, time is out, no excuses we have to see late game production.
The reality is, Hurts wins games so he gets rated probably higher than he deserves. He’s also created some game winning drives. That’s the part we need to see from Fields which we haven’t.
Let me add: I’m a Fields supporter and want the Bears to keep him. I think they can win with him. That said, we do have to see him play better at the end of the game (final two drives). I thought he showed signs of that (that bomb he through to Scott should’ve been caught) but we NEED TO SEE RESULTS.
If he plays like he did yesterday for the next 6 games, that would be 9 games in a row of putting up 25+ points and playing solid. That’s enough for me.
I will say, what he needs mixed in there is one or two closing drives in a game. That’s the last step for me.
I don’t want to go in with another QB rebuild. I’m really not confident in any draft picks. Not sure if it’s possible, but I say you draft one of the QBs and then roll with Fields one more year letting the QB develop.
This is exactly my feel. I look at a lot of teams who win and I don’t see them have much better talent we have.
I sometimes tune in on the after show and Alex Brown always talks about the players not being good enough. I’m like, have you seen who the Vikings are playing with?
Sorry man, did you watch the game? How exactly are you “fighting the power” here?
Listen, I just want to cheer for a football team not start a political movement and take down the man. We’ve all got enough “real” problems in our life then to turn this into some revolution I’ve got to deal with. Again, it’s entertainment. If you don’t like it watch something else but don’t blame us watching the game for the loss. I can’t stand this logic.
I mean this sincerely: Does anyone have Roquan Smith PFF rankings or any other statistically meaningful reference of how he’s been on the Ravens since coming over? Is he even the highest rated player on this defense?
I’ll be honest, I watched him last night and Roquan is solid. Like he was on the Bears. Making tackles but, I didn’t really see him playing “Ray Lewis” level football that they were talking about. I just can’t think 1 player, even a good one, can make this much of a difference that said, I’m interested to figure this out.
Totally agree, NOBODY thought he was a top linebacker when he was on the Bears. If they did he would have been deemed All Pro which he never was.
To just look at the trade at face value is a gross oversimplification. The trade was the last step in a broken relationship to try to get something for him. The reality it seems is, rightly or wrongly, Poles wasn’t sure he wanted to keep Roquan and Roquan got offended, and the relationship ruptured. At that point, we had to salvage anything we can to get something for him rather than just lose him in free agency. Hence the trade. I thought it was totally misrepresented as well.
I also would say, I liked Roquan a lot. Having seen Urlacher and Singletary play before him, I wouldn’t say Roquan was that level of a middle linebacker. He was good, but he would absolutely disappear in games and he did have trouble shedding blocks. I"m not at all saying he isn’t great but I would also not say he is the best middle linebacker in the league. Seems the pendulum swung the other way on him.
I know it’s easy to say, Bears are terrible at everything but anyone who can’t admit that this defense isn’t doing good things isn’t watching the games. They’re on the right track.
I did a quick look up and from a statistical perspective they’re on par with the Eagles…
Is still say that, you got a huge contract wrapped up in a fine QB. We have a ton of flexibility. Glad we’re not the Broncos or the Giants
Top 10 is harder than it sounds. Example, I think extending Trevor Lawrence is not even a debate but, is he a top 10? Remember he has to be better than one of these:
- Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Jackson, Hurts, Herbert, Rodgers, Goff, Prescott, Cousins, Stafford
- Not even mentioning Stroud and Purdy since they’re just starting out but have better numbers than him this year.
Honestly, these stats are so useless…Let me pull together 4 numbers in a game and go search history. Feels way too contrived.
