I keep seeing terrible takes about Bagent being better than fields because he’s 2-2. When are we going to learn that wins aren’t a QB stat. Bagent’s 2 wins came against the Raiders with their 3rd string QB and then the worst team in the NFL.
The defense is the reason the bears won last night. I agree Bagent is not ready for a starting qb role. There has been no significant drop off from Fields to Bagent.
Seriously, did these people WATCH this game!? Now I honestly think both QBs are better than what they are showing because our coaching staff is fundamentally incompetent but holy shit Bagent looked like ass out there last night.
I dont think Fields is the guy, but to say Bagent is better is ridiculous. Fields would have beaten that shit Raiders team and this shit Panthers team as well.
I’m so tired of this growing segment of the fanbase thinking that Bagent has a future as a starting QB, let alone as a GOOD starting QB or as a franchise savior for us. Look, it’s not impossible for him to eventually develop into that. But the odds of that happening are really really slim. Plus does anyone seriously trust this regime or the next one to be able to develop him into that sort of guy? I’m very happy that we were able to find a D2 UDFA who is capable of being a decent backup and a game manager who can win a game in specific situations. Frankly, that is amazing in and of itself. But we have to stop putting this guy on a pedestal and thinking that he’s something he’s not. He’s not Tom Brady, he’s not even Brock Purdy. Maybe in a few years he’ll be capable of being our starter if the next 1st round QB flames out too. But we seriously need to pump the brakes with our assessments and expectations of this guy.
