Instantly I know I’ll get the crew who is already done with fields knocking me for this take.

But for the rest of us who still feel like maybe… Fields still could be the guy…

OL is playing well, defense playing well and instantly improved by Sweat. Moore is still the best player on the team, Kmet, Mooney, Foreman, Herbert coming back, great opportunity for Fields to show if he can be the guy we thought he could (and show consistency) before the franchise moves on.

Admittedly I’ve been very reluctant to give up on fields, I just see so much potential fucked up by (imo) coaching and play calling. But I will move on if he gets to prove me wrong through the rest of the season… or he can prove me right and we can ball out on other positional needs and make our run!

I just want success for Da Bears, Bear Down

People like you will never let him go. My dude it’s been 33 games… the remaining 8 games are really going to sway you that much? Even if you aren’t sure about him, it’s better to reset the market rather than just pick up his option and pay him $20M in year 5

“Time to find out about Fields”…it’s year 3, we know about fields. It’s time to get this season over with and move on.

We already know what Fields is. That’s not going to change because of injury. He is not Brady, Rodgers, Brees… They have to stop trying to turn him into that. They need to go back to what ran well for him last year. They’re better off if they adopt the Philly or Baltimore model or a modified version of it since it is mid season. But they’ll be stupid and continue to try and fit a square peg into a round hole. The Bears will lose, Fields will get blamed, and then they’ll say we need a shiny new QB.

    !remindme 3weeks
we’re going to lose to better teams, offense is going to go back to putting up 24 points a game (instead of 13-17 w/ bagent) but we’re going to lose because the teams we’re playing against are better, people are going to go back to saying ‘bagent is better than fields’ ‘wins are a qb stat’ etc.

I love Fields. First Jersey I have bought - before he even played.

But we have seen this plenty of times already.

He will look good against really bad defenses. He will not be able to get it done against even decently competent teams.

We hill make all the excuses in the world because hope is the most addictive drug there is.

his final exam starts now and ends in January. He’s gotta play lights out the whole way if he wants to come back. Until then I’m going all in on him and cheering him on the whole way.

He’s gonna have to play pretty goddamn good and win a lot of the remaining games for me to be cool with Poles passing on taking a QB in the top 2 for the second year in a row.

The rational take is not to give up Fields until you have to. The best case scenario for the Bears is he balls out and we can spend our offseason capital on building the rest of the team. Drafting a QB is always a crap shoot, even with the #1. There’s no such thing as a sure-fire, can’t miss pick. You only take the chance if you have to.

I’m so paranoid about the bears that even being out however many weeks fields has been out is having me unreasonably worried that he’ll have to find his groove again haha. Nfl is so damn fast paced.

This is stretch of games literally the ideal situation for both sides of this argument. Theoretically if Hebert and Davis play this upcoming week then we would have our #1 offensive starters all playing together for basically the first time this year, minus the fullback but close enough. This should be the best offense Fields has had (not saying it’s a good one but it’s better than what it’s been) and he either succeeds and shows he can be the guy when the team isn’t dogshit or he fails with his best guys and shows he can’t be the guy. He also plays both good and bad teams during this stretch so it adds to the sample size for those of you saying he pads his stats against bad teams and plays terribly against good ones.
