Plus his drafting has been mediocre. We’ve used a lot draft picks on secondary and most of them look like just bodies. A bunch of mediocre guys on this mediocre roster he’s building. Can’t scout talent unless it’s someone else proven star or a top ten pick.

New coach gets a new qb. No way we hire a guy and then tell him to decide Fields 5th year option in the off-season and not let him pick a qb with one of two top five picks. Even if the new guy loves Fields that’s career suicide.

Did they though? He had 23 attempts all game not like he was throwing a bunch anyways all game. They ran a lot of option and fields made good reads for the most part. They even let him throw on third and short to seal the game. People wanted to see an offense catered to Fields strengths and this is really it. Lots of option. Good run game. Deep calls.

We never should have been in that position in the first place BUT our series between the Lions touchdowns he needed to convert. The first play call up the gut was bad but the second run was an option and you could see Barnes not bite and wait out to his left and would’ve had a clear shot at Fields. On 3rd down he had DJ wide open crossing Fields left. Then on the final play he fumbles.

Yes he shouldn’t have been in that position to begin with but good QBs find ways. Fields 10 4th quarter TOs in close games and one game winning drive, not to mention a career average 165 yards per game aren’t going to get you far in the NFL.

I don’t see how a new coach can resist taking a QB if he gets a choice of Maye or Williams.

Edwards has been a great signing and great value.

The fact that we may end up with a top two pick from the Panthers changes everything. Fields is due to get paid and we could give him another year to prove it but his option would cost 23.5 million the year after. That’s essentially a fully guaranteed one year rental. There’s no guarantee we end up with a pick to draft a qb in 25 in case he doesn’t work out.
