He did everything he was supposed to do and had us with a 12 point lead with 4 mins left, and the defense went and gave up two tds. Also one of our wrs dropped a game clinching pass after he had fumbled earlier in the game. And he did it all without the thumb in his throwing hand being one 100%. There is nothing a Caleb Williams or Drake Maye could do to elevate this team with all the holes and terrible coaching. Poles will most likely take a QB just to cover his ass and give himself a few more years but it will set us back a few more years and maybe longer if they bust l.

I’m so fucking tired of seeing this ice cold take, especially making NEW post that says the same shit fifty-eleven other posts people have made over and over.

I don’t get how you give up on that guy after 2 seasons. But as a Packers fan 🤷🏻‍♂️it would be totally typical of the Bears.

He was the best player in the game yesterday, on either team. People shitting on fields clearly have an agenda. Go ask lions fans how they feel about our qb after yesterday

They need to trade for the guy then because I see no version of this franchise that can develop that guy. Has not happened since 1950.

I don’t think either of these guys are “win because of him” QBs. My prediction for this draft class is you’re more likely to find the best QB in the class later on as a project WB

Mods should just make a Keep Justin Fields vs Drafting a Rookie QB thread and sticky it so that any new discussion can happen there instead of 50,000 posts a week on the same topic

Fields played well enough to win for most of the game. He made a couple very good throws, including the (I’ll-advised) bomb to Scott. But on that play he missed Moore wide open for the first down, and he committed ANOTHER game-sealing turnover. I think with better coaching Fields could be an above-average qb with sporadic meltdown games where he’s the reason we lose. But we would be insane to commit massive money to him. Reset the clock with one of the two potentially generational qb prospects and put a strong offensive regime in place.

I’m not sure we can say 100% that we need a new coaching staff and at the same time say Fields is at fault for playing inconsistent. How much better does Fields need to play to be considered “not the problem”? And with the right coaching staff does he get that much better?

I think it makes sense to continue building around him through the draft and if we’re having this conversation again in 2 years then make a decision. They whoever we get will have a solid team around him.

As much as I hate watching bears losing football and absolutely loath the off-season when we get 20+ posts of this every single day

Fields played great yesterday but I still need to see that every game. It’s not asinine to go after a franchise QB with your first pick if you have any question marks on your current one. The idea has always been let’s see these 7 games. Need to have a holistic view and stop with these posts after 1 game

lol no one knows if any of these qb’s will be franchise qb’s, specially if they get drafted by the bears.

We have 6 more games. Lets just let things play out. So far all we know is:

    • The coaching staff sucks

    • Fields has been inconsistent. Can he change that narrative through the rest of the year.

    • The QB draft is really good and Bears are in perfect position for one. The new coaches should get their choice and not be forced to keep Fields. If they chose to keep Fields then at least it was their choice.

Unless we’re 100% sure that Fields is a long term star QB by the end of the season it would be asinine not to draft one. You can still get an extremely impactful player to fill another hole with our other likely top 5 pick. In the NFL in 2023 you need a bona fide star at the position, not someone who is just good enough or is ever 7-27 in their career, I don’t care how many excuses people give him.

I mostly agree with you but in the last 10 years or so we saw Foles, Peyton Manning (old), Wilson, Flacco, and Eli Manning. The great quarterbacks definitely make life easier, but you can invest heavily in the rest of your team and still win the big one.

To expand a little: Manning is my all time favorite but he did nothing for that team in the second half of the season. Wilson has been a bust on a different team. Flacco is Mr. Mediocre. Eli is top 15? You may disagree with some of my opinions which is totally fine - but mediocrity can win. I’d probably prefer that we trade down again and stack our team with rookie mega talent and then when we inevitably finish poorly again next year if Fields truly is the problem, we can draft a QB then.

As far as fields goes, they basically shut him down for the fourth quarter. Not that I’d object to him going rogue and ignoring all the play calls, but short of that, his hands were pretty well tied.

Only threw it once (the perfectly placed deep ball that Scott fucked up) in the fourth and only dropped back three times in the fourth. And people say that Getsy isn’t a massive dong.

Such is what happens when you take the ball out of the hands of the one player generating your entire offensive production for the day vs. One of the top teams in the league.
