Pretending we had a center going into this season was also a whiff.

If the team isn’t sold on the 2024 QBs, they’d be better off drafting MHJ and an OL or pass rusher, build the team around Fields for next season & if Fields doesn’t show that he’s the future, then draft a QB in 2025. The team would be in a better position for a rookie QB then and its not like there won’t be any top QB prospects available if we wait.

This would be so negligent. They’d be wasting prime years of our two real studs in Sweat and DJ (and JJ if he’s back) plus cheap rookie contract years of other guys like DW and wasting expensive years of guys like Edmunds.

All to go from 90% sure that JF isn’t the guy to 100% sure and enter next year’s draft in a worse position to draft a QB, to say nothing of the fact it looks like a much weaker QB draft class anyway.

They need to identify a college QB with a lot of experience and who can read a defense quickly. Not someone putting up good stats because they have 8 seconds to throw

Well then let’s trade the pick for a haul and draft Penix and hope he stays healthy. One way or another, a QB is coming and Justin is going. No one knows who’s going to work out and who won’t so who cares who we draft. It’s a crap shoot.

Serviceable QBs only win when they go on HOF runs playing out of their mind (like Flacco or Foles) or their D is generationally great and carries them (Like Dilfer or Denver Manning). Every QB shows flashes of greatness. Zach Wilson has shown flashes.

Look a their entire body of work as well as how deep their flaws lie. Justin still does everything too damn slowly. He won’t succeed in any offense for a team that wants to contend.

Monday wasn’t pretty but the game plan was odd and he still had a super clutch game winning drive that I’m not sure he has a year ago.

12/13 is nice on paper, but give me me 7/11 or whatever if it means throwing the ball more than 5 yards. Counting on YAC like we’ve had so far doesn’t work for a full game and more importantly doesn’t show this team anything new about Justin, which y’know with 6 games left is kind of important.

A horrible call not to kick but it works out because Minnesota’s pass D is as stupidly coached as ours. Kind of the story when anything goes right for Flus. Pure luck.

I would not mind living in this world if we also had pick 2 and drafted someone to throw to him.

And he still wasn’t worth the pick even if he lived up to the hype. 1-1 should never be a WR unless it’s an all-time bad draft at QB, T, EDGE, IDL, and CB.

Which is why it’s infuriating that we haven’t until very recently made an effort to draft them early and consistently. Can’t win if you don’t play.

Kind reminder he is as or more likely to become a fringe WR1 like Tee Higgins or Muhsin Muhammad as he is a HOFer like Calvin Johnson. Picking him over a QB becomes a disastrous, franchise fucking mistake if his outcome is anything but GWROAT. Risk is just not worth the reward, with the one exception being the Bears using their other pick on a QB that they simply like better than the consensus top 2.

You’re wrong. LT and interior DL are more important. A top-end cover corner is at least on the same level.

That’s the risk. But a legit GOAT-tier WR is not more valuable than even a top 10ish QB like a Justin Herbert or Lawrence or Kirk Cousins (How did the Vikes do after the best WR in the game went down this year?). If you could project Maye or Caleb ends up as good as one of those guys, you take one of them over MHJ, especially since we already have a young WR1 locked up.

You don’t need to be as bad as Zach Wilson to be a bust.

And they’re, wait for it, still one of just a handful of teams with legit SB aspirations and he’s on pace, while struggling, for a season that would by far be the greatest in the history of our team.
