Yannick Ngakoue Yes if a depth contract
Justin Jones - No

Robert Tonyan Jr. - Ok if gone, if retain for depth fine
Rasheem Green - No
Marcedes Lewis - Why not
D’Onta Foreman -Yes
Jaylon Johnson -Yes
EQ St. Brown -Yes
Dylan Cole - No
Trent Taylor - No
Darnell Mooney - Yes, at a 3rd WR price
What do you mean “no” to Taylor??? Bro has been a rock at PR. Do you remember the punt returning troubles we had with Velus last year?
Watch out Poles this cats running for your job!
Na Feeney was a huge liability last week, let him walk
He rebounded after the mistake and looked good imo
Mooney will want #2 wr money.
It only matters what everyone is willing to pay him. He’s had a brutal year, he’s not getting paid shit.
If I’m the Chiefs I’m scooping up Mooney. I think that’s a perfect spot for him to go to. Chiefs get a potential 1,000 yard receiver at a good price.
Yeah that’d be a good fit vs what they have now.
Dude hasn’t been good since 2021.
He’s coming around, but he won’t even get Lazard money.
I agree. But I’m also okay with him leaving. Especially if we get MHJ in the draft. We can always pick up a cheaper third than Mooney and still probably get the same type of production.
That’s if Lewis doesn’t retire.
Lock up Santos for at least 3 years he is one of the best kickers in the NFL this year.
With all due respect sir. Yannick Ngakoue looks like a practice squad player right now. He needs to go.
I think you undervalue roster spots. It’s hurts your chances of improving when guys who could never crack the startling lineup are here. Guys like EQ, Feeney, Tonyan and Lewis need to go. I’d much rather roll the dice on a UDFA blocking TE in that Lewis spot.
Those veterans ought to be depth on an established roster. Not on a team in a youth movement.
Who’s Lewis stealing time from? He’s just an excellent blocker still that costs little to nothing. A lot of these guys could be signed for very little guaranteed and we don’t need to be blowing holes on our roster for the sake of potentially developing UDFAs. I think you’re undervaluing depth.
This year nobody. Next year, hopefully it’s a rookie inline TE with a little more long term potential.
You undervalue depth and situational players. EQ is a great blocker. Feeney is versatile. Lewis is extremely good at setting the edge.
Just because a player isn’t a starter doesn’t mean they don’t help the team in significant ways
On a good team, yes. You need those guys. On a bad team, you need opportunities for players to break out.
Off-Topic, but does our punter sort of suck? I feel like our punter is kinda shitty.
A lot depends on what else the Bears can do in F/A and expect to do in the draft, but of the guys I’d like to see back, In order of importance:
- Jaylon Johnson
- Cairo Santos
- Nagkoue
- Justin Jones
- Mooney
- Foreman
Why does everyone want to get rid of TT?
I want to keep Mooney, but last 2 years, something isn’t right, and he should go to somewhere like KC
Yannick Ngakoue - NO
Justin Jones - NO
Lucas Patrick - NO
Dan Feeney - NO
Cairo Santos - 100% YES
Robert Tonyan Jr. - NO
Rasheem Green - YES
Marcedes Lewis - NO
D’Onta Foreman - YES
Jaylon Johnson - YES (so long as the number isn’t insane)
EQ St. Brown - NO
Dylan Cole - NO
Trent Taylor - NO
Darnell Mooney - YES
That’s about it. We can’t afford to keep all these one year veteran rentals. Our young players need to see the field. We need to use those roster spots to find cheap young talent that we can grow with. We’re not a competitive team so let’s act like a team that’s hunting for building blocks, not placehodlers.
Disagree with the Mooney keep. He’s a good guy and all, but we need another big receiver to complement DJ.
Doesn’t Teven need a new contract?
Not till end of next year.
Sign Santos, he’s been solid.
Yannick has been bad, a rental I wanted but doesn’t warrant even another short term deal.
Patrick just needs to go on principle unless it’s the min for depth, I’d be okay with that.
4 year deal for JJ @ 18-20mil/per, front load it.
I like donta for another year for his contract.
Not much to speak of else except for Mooney. Contract would have to be a lowball, not a fan of paying him. Offer him short term one year for low $ on a prove-it deal.
If JJ and Mooney want to stick around for a reasonable price, sure. Maybe Foreman and EQ since they’re valuable depth and special teams players. Santos is a definite keeper.
Fire the rest into the sun, please.
JJ and Santos. Maybe Foreman.
Cairo, Foreman, Jaylon
Yes, probably cheap contacts for solid depth: Justin Jones, St. Brown, Cole
Depends on money: JJ
Depends on draft strategy, or if cheap: Mooney
Love Mooney and wish he could stay a bear for life, I just don’t know if it’s in the cards.
Edit: Santos is a definite. Forgot he was on the list.
Ngakoue if he can be had for a good price. Until you have another proven pass rusher bring him back
Feeney maybe let’s see how he plays
Santos definitely
Tonyan if price is right
JJ yes if he’s reasonable
ESB yes
Mooney yes (with Moore and MHJ on the outside and a new OC he’s going to feast)
Santos and Johnson. Mooney if we can get him for less than 5 a year on a 3 year deal. Nobody else worth even thinking about.
You wouldnt renew with Foreman i think he has been pretty solid
He has been, it’s not a knock on him. He’s on a very cheap deal, and in spite of his play I wouldn’t want to pay what should be our 3rd back more than the vet minimum if he’s coming back. Better to use our copious draft capital on a younger guy with growth potential who we can control on a cheap contract for a few years. I’m a proponent of drafting a rb every year, if you can. Talented backs are too plentiful in the later rounds to not keep taking shots.
I also think Herbert is massively underrated, so I’d rather extend him next season, if we’re going to be paying a back more than $4M a year.
Herbert is too weak as a pass catcher and run blocker to be valued anything higher than a 2nd string RB. He’s just not a feature back, doesn’t bring enough to the table. He’ll thrive anywhere there’s RBBC in the backfield, but I wouldn’t extend him beyond $4M/AAV
