  • I think Fields is improving in the aspect of reading defenses, and taking fewer sacks. That’s been his major issue.

The question isn’t if Fields is the guy or not. It’s about weather the team is better off with Fields and a better team because of the trade down draft haul, or having a rookie qb and less picks to improve the team.

It seems to be logical to let Fields get year 4 and have a great team.

  • Drafting a QB makes a lot more sense in 2025. We can afford to be patient with Fields, but if someone that Poles likes drops for some reason then I say we draft him.

I’d rather stack the team for Fields, and if he doesn’t get to the level we need in 24 or 25 then we draft a qb into our now stacked team.

  • What I keep going back to are the teams that in the playoffs every year and going far in the playoffs without elite QB play. They all focus on team building first through the draft and then they get the QBs that drop to them.

The Chiefs before Mahomes. The Eagles before Hurts. San Fran before Purdy. The Ravens before Lamar.

The blueprint is there. Keep collecting talent in the draft and let the qb drop to you because you have a boatload of picks and can do it.

This is why I think the Bears keep Fields and trade back. It allows them to further stack their team and take a Qb that drops to them if Fields doesn’t pan out in year 4 or his 5th year extension year.

We don’t have to rush into a qb pick this year. We can be patient with Fields, stack the team and then ounce in 25 or 26 draft if a qb drops to us.
