Poles has his job to think about. If he passes on both QBs in this draft and Fields continues to be poor, he will be gone.
True, whatever decision he makes will cost him his job and future in his role if he’s wrong.

Justin Fields is good enough, yes.
There are plenty of teams with QBs who don’t have near the level of talent Fields does but have much better supporting casts. The Bears need a better coaching staff to start.
He has things he needs to fix (holding onto the ball too long / fumbles) but he’s the leader in that locker room and the video footage coming out between him and Poles the last 24 hours don’t show a GM who is going to pick a QB with 1.01.
The fact that we still have Field truthers in here after tonight is the most mind boggling thing of all time
All we’ve been asking for is him to show he has the ability to win a game with the ball in his hands in the final 2 minutes. He played okay despite the play-calling and had 2 bad fumbles.
But he got them in position to win the game so none of that other stuff really matters.
I don’t think we have too many glaring holes really. And the biggest holes are at positions that can be filled in later rounds of the draft (center & free safety). A lot of issues can be fixed with a new coaching staff too.
It would be better for every situation if Fields plays well. Then if the new staff wants him they can spend draft capital on positional upgrades (WR & LT) or trade for future picks. If they don’t want him then we can send him to Atlanta for a bunch of picks.
Matt Bowen did a breakdown on this on the All 22 tape. The read was right - Moore was covered by the safety coming down to him from the other side and Scott had his man beat over the top. The ball was perfect, Scott stopped running.
all the games count and raw stats don’t win
wins are not a QB stat.
Right and you also look at trends. And the trends show he was bad to start the season was very good for 2 games, had a half of a bad game and was very good again. I’d say playing like a top 10 QB in 3 of his last 4 starts is a great trend. It’s better than him being shit in those games.
In Fields’ last 4 games (3.5 considering the injury) he’s got 1076 total yards, 9 TD and 3 TO. If you break that down to a per-game average, that’s 270 YPG, 2 TD and 1 TO.
If you asked ANYBODY before the season started whether they’d take 270 and 2 TD per game they would be over the moon.
This is a great example for people who say coaching doesn’t matter.
Statistically Mahomes is on pace for the worst season of his entire career.
