I like Justin Fields the person and the leader but I don’t know if he can ever be a great QB. My question is, is he good enough?

Yes, we can draft another QB with pick 1 or 4 (or whatever) but we can get a boatload of picks by trading down from #1. Most highly drafted QBs don’t turn into great NFL QBs and our franchise sucks at developing them.

As the defense is playing well, the OLine looks solid, can we go forward and compete with JF1?

Personally, I think if we boot Getsy and get an OC who actually builds a plan around Fields, we may be able to compete by investing in OL, DL and WR.

And if we win 2-3 more games, we might be stuck with the entire front office for next year anyway.

Justin Fields is good enough, yes.

There are plenty of teams with QBs who don’t have near the level of talent Fields does but have much better supporting casts. The Bears need a better coaching staff to start.

He has things he needs to fix (holding onto the ball too long / fumbles) but he’s the leader in that locker room and the video footage coming out between him and Poles the last 24 hours don’t show a GM who is going to pick a QB with 1.01.

Poles has his job to think about. If he passes on both QBs in this draft and Fields continues to be poor, he will be gone.

Fields has physical talent but there are backups who read the field better.

True, whatever decision he makes will cost him his job and future in his role if he’s wrong.
