What do you think they do? I think there’s a pretty good chance the Carolina pick is #1. I fear they might scratch out a few wins and move back with their own pick.
MHJ is without question the best prospect IMO. I’d take him at #1 unless…some team is willing to sell the farm for Caleb Williams or Maye. That being said I’m not sold on either of those two. Take MHJ and the best OL on the board with the second pick.
If a team is sold on Caleb or Maye…trade back. I really think there’s a chance that Penix, Nix, or Jayden end up being more serviceable NFL QBs and that gives you the excuse to sit them behind Fields for at least a year while you re-evaluate with a new coaching staff.
TLDR: I think there’s a near zero percent chance the Bears draft a QB at 1, nor should they.

If we have the number 1 pick there’s a 100% chance they’re taking Caleb unless Fields puts up MVP numbers the rest of the season. He’s been too inconsistent for any GM to give him the benefit of the doubt going into his 4th and 5th year extension.

Anybody else think that the Bears have already made the decision that they are moving on from Fields and the game plan against Detroit reflected that?
They called more quarterback runs and moved the pocket a ton with very few straight drop backs. That kind of game plan makes Fields look good which is pretty obvious to everyone. So the question is why now? Why haven’t they been doing that the whole year?
Is it possible they’ve completed their evaluation and want to have Fields play well the remainder of the season to up his trade value?

I don’t think there’s a near 0% chance, but either one is entirely possible. It’s too much to speculate right now even, and it doesn’t make much sense.
There are factors aside from just Fields’ play that will come into the equation like if the new HC likes a prospect more than he does Fields, then even if Fields balls out he wouldn’t stay.
I’m honestly tired of having this talk like every single day because we truthfully won’t know the answer to the question until after they hire their new coach and the season ends

Poles has limited time and he can’t pass on a QB again. Passing on a QB means he’s basically risking his entire tenure on fields. Why do that when he can reset the clock, reset the contract situation, and get “his” guy?
I don’t think that is true though. All the top teams built their teams first, then got the Qb. Ravens, Niners, Cowboys, Eagles, Chiefs, etc
This gets said a lot. But many of these teams didn’t plan on building the rest of the team first. They tried to get their QB while building, and either failed or the very least figured out he wasn’t quite good enough to get to the top level as the rest of the team got better. A lot of the time upgrading QB after the rest of the roster is built is plan B.
This is what I think too I like fields and think he can be a good QB but you can’t pass on a QB two years in a row with the number 1 pick Caleb willliams immaturity scares me but I think he has a higher ceiling than drake maye

No. It’s a platform solely designed to discuss topics. The draft is the only thing worth discussing about the Bears outside of when they fire Eberflus. Those should 100% be daily topics.
I’m not trying to dispel your ability to discuss a topic you’re passionate about. I even called that out. That’s why we’re all here.
But I will also always call out lazy and tired takes especially from the OP, who essentially curates and frames the topic/discussion, and you provided no real substance to that other than talk about your “feelings” towards the players. This. He has both Penix and Nix as guys that will be better than Williams when Penix and Nix are almost opposite guys. Penix throws a pretty deep ball and often while Nix has thrown 1/3rd of his passes behind the LoS. Some reasoning why you think both of those styles will be successful would be nice.
We’re fucked if they draft Caleb Williams. We’re also not drafting a QB if they arent firing the current coaches. I also think Ryan Poles has the wherewithal to know it needs to be different coaches teaching someone new.
Its also entirely possible that the coaches get fired and we still keep Fields. I think Fields under the right coaches can be fucking nasty good.
The end game is i just want them to get it right. It sucks not having a good team to root for.

Caleb Williams is being very underrated at this point, and would look like Bagent with a cannon in our offense. I just worry that Chicago will destroy him.

You are ignoring the fact that the offensive line has been a top ten unit when healthy and the wr plus te group or a top ten weapons group right now. Fields is not good at distributing the ball.
I’m not ignoring any of that. Furthermore, I do not think Fields’ rush rate is sustainable.
When we say MHJ is the best prospect without question… uhh, I question that. Dozens of analysts question that.
I am absolutely not against drafting him. But there are other collegiate receivers having great years. Jamar Chase was a great prospect. I would have 100% taken Sewell given the choice. The Bears traded an early first round pick for Moore. Are they really going to spend a second on MHJ?
Best case scenario is that Arizona wants to move on from Kyler. We can get the #2 and #20 plus more picks for the first pick. We get MHJ, an elite OL or Edge with our pick and someone like Bo Nix later on. Spend our ridiculous cap space wisely in free agency and we are contenders next year.
This is what I think too. MHJ and the best OL/Edge available. If you can do that AND trade back it’s a jackpot. Even if you can’t…I really don’t think Caleb or Maye are the unquestionable answer IMO. Seems like there’s about 6 realistic NFL QBs in this draft.

Kyler’s contract is completely unmovable until the 2025 offseason. They aren’t taking a QB top of the draft, and they sure as hell aren’t giving up picks 2 and 20 to move up one spot. That team needs to fill holes rather than go all-in for a single position that they already have filled. They’re either in camp MHJ or trade back if he gets taken.
If you read the tea leaves, Adam Jahns has been not so subtlety hinting that the Bears seem to be moving on from Fields. He’s mentioned multiple times that people within Halas Hall listen to their podcast. Jahns is a great read and the podcast is a good listen whether you like those guys or not. I’ve learned you can get a feel for what’s going on within Halas if you listen to them enough.
