The only difference is Canada is legitimately alot worse than Getsy and Canada had been with the steelers longer.

By now, I’m probably well known for being extremely critical of Getsy. And it’s not bc I don’t think he can be a decent to good OC, it’s that he has shown he can properly gameplan for Fields but then doesn’t stick with it. And then obviously the conservative 2nd halves when bears are up by more than one score.

But, with Flus being that ceo HC, I wonder if he’s the one directing the conservative plans.

At this point, I’m done with Flus, he can get fired. But, we can’t fire him and Getsy, bc that leaves the team without a DC or a OC and then, of course, HC.

Let Getsy stay, have Hightower be the HC. We have a couple vet position coaches to move to DC. We don’t have the same on the offensive side, so like I said Getsy stays and maybe he will be less likely to shut it down with a lead?

Either way, it’s never going to happen. The players seem to still like him even if he needs to go.

I feel very similarly to you, but I think the problem is Getsy and not Flus. I think Flus trusts his defense to get him to the finish line because he is a defensively minded head coach. Lovie had this issue sometimes too. I think if Flus had an offensive mind he trusted to get the job done, he would get rid of Getsy, but I don’t think he trusts anyone on his staff enough to take over that role and he knows he can’t call both offensive and defensive plays the whole game while also managing the rest of the team.

Anyone who throws Caleb Williams box scores for your arguments against him, know that the second you do that - we know you’ve never watched him play.

If Fields still hasn’t shown he’s the man, I can not wait for CW to be here. You haters have no clue what you’re against. He’s incredible.

Steelers fire Canada leaving us as the only franchise that has never fired a coach midseason. I wish we were a real organization man. Denver loss should’ve been Eberlose’s last game with us and yet he decides to one up himself with that Lions loss. Despicable

One thing I’m really struggling to understand both here and in bears media land is how Justin had a “fantastic” game on Sunday. Are we really going to set the bar at 170 yards passing with one TD pass and a fumble as fantastic? I totally understand that the coaching sucks especially on the defensive side of the ball, but can we stop treating this whole situation as all or nothing. Justin has been underperforming all year and has yet to put together a good game winning drive. We had 4 turnovers this game and didn’t get 30 points that’s pathetic, is some of this on Getsy yes it is, but some of it is in Justin too for not executing. Good players shine through like DJ Moore and TJ Edward’s despite poor coaching performance. I really hope we look to draft a new QB with a brand new qualified staff this spring as this team is long gone as it currently stands.

Long way to go but it’s thanksgiving and bears are in prime position for at least Harrison Jr or Caleb/Maye and possibly a combo of both. Patriots beat G-men this weekend and we lose to Arizona and we’re back in 1-2 position

The NFL has gotten pretty boring to watch. Even last night between the Chiefs and Eagles it was more about miscues and penalties than it was great plays. I think Tom Brady has a point when he says between coaching, player development and the rules the game really isn’t about excellence anymore. Maybe the combination of lack of practice time and the preference for rookie players just led to a situation where teams are mostly young players that don’t know what they are really doing.

It’s an interesting situation for the Bears. If we draft well rounds 1-4 we are likely trying to start 3-4 more rookies next year, on top of a lot guys in starting in years two and three. Generally I think having a young team is a positive but currently the best teams in the NFC are more veteran heavy with the Eagles, 49ers and Cowboys.

I think something has to change. The NFL needs to change some rules about salary cap and player salaries or the players need to become more aware about maximizing their overall experience not just their money. Or maybe the NFL just needs to offer far larger incentives to teams that make the playoffs, or win the Super Bowl.

I guess my point is watching Mahomes who may be the greatest QB in NFL history try and throw to MVS, Watson and Rice seems criminal.

maximizing their overall experience not just their money

Give their physical and mental well being for the experience while the owners make billions?

I see absolutely no reason to move on from Fields next year, even if our top pick is a QB. Make the new guy earn it & let Bagent in on the competition, too. His mechanics are fucked, but I think he could surprise everyone by taking a huge step next year.

My preference would be to draft MHJr, trade back & target a QB with potential later in the 1st or in the 2nd round.

With that said, nothing will freaking matter if we get another shit head coach

I’m finding myself more interested at getting a project QB at the 1/2 turn like Nix or Penix and letting them sit for a year or two while also picking up MHJ than drafting Williams or Maye and just sending them to the wolves.

No. For the love of god I do not want to mess up potentially having alignment with HC/QB. In the last 25 years that has NEVER happened for us. This might be the first time that it’s possible for us…

This is kind of where i am at. There is still a chance if we trade down from the first overall pick we gain another first next year, that we can use on a QB if Fields continues to suck with a new coaching staff. There is still too much uncertainty with the top QBs this year where im find kicking the can down the road another year while grabbing 2 legit starters with our 2 picks this year (MHJ and someone else). The chance of Williams going to a team and becoming a stud are just as high as us taking him and Fields turns into a stud on another team. Give me the players who are less likely to be busts this year

This is the reason I don’t want the Bears to draft Williams or Maye. I don’t want this dysfunctional organization to destroy their careers. How sad is that we have to think like that? The only path to success that I really see, although I doubt it will ever happen under the McCaskeys, is to make a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Jared Goff sort of signing. IE, sign an established veteran quarterback and cross your fingers that they can stay healthy and give you a couple good years near the end of their career.

Taking a qb first overall or sticking with Fields, the bears will inevitably make the wrong decision. I’m not going to pretend to confidently know the answer. I just hope the coaches are gone after this year. You have to know there’s better options out there at this point.

He’s the worst coach in the league in almost every aspect. Team preparation, in game management and execution, and media engagement. I can’t believe he throws Fields under the bus like that and then has the gall to talk about “accountability.” The worst part is I think he’s so dumb that he doesn’t know he’s throwing players under the bus. I think he’s so dumb that he actually thinks he’s doing a good job and may be retained after this season.
