Rumor around the time of the hire was that owners wanted Jim Caldwell, most of the rest of the hiring committee wanted Dan Quinn, and Poles chose Eberflus by himself.
Poles says Eberflus fulfilled all of his criteria for a coach when they first spoke so he followed his instinct to hire him and conclude the search.
