An undrafted rookie from a D2 school came into this offense and got Mooney and Kmet involved. Fields sucks at reading the defense and making it past his first progression. Get rid of fields, keep Bagent as the 2nd string and draft a QB.

It’s super easy to just want them to keep drafting QBs until they hit. We haven’t drafted a competent QB since the 1980s. (Harbaugh was drafted in 87) We’ve literally gone almost 4 decades whiffing out on every QB pick. The successful QBs in that period (Kramer and Cutler) were both drafted by some other team.

If we have nearly 40 years of drafting morons what in the hell makes anyone think the next one will fair any better?

So what we just stop trying? We just never have a great QB? We gave up a crap ton to get cutler and it didn’t get us anywhere.

It’s almost as if multiple things can be bad at the same time.

I don’t believe for one second that there are a significant number of people who want to keep the coaching staff and get rid of Fields.

I thought he was ok, maybe even bordering on good. Ironically, he played more like Bagent. Avoiding negative plays (would have liked to see him check out at the line a lot more, some of those run plays were obviously defeated pre-snap and he just let them go anyway), few big passes outside of the one excellent touchdown throw.

But he wasn’t, like, great. Most of the points came because he was getting insane field position.

Poles wants just that, and he actually matters. So 1 is a significant number in the Bears’ case.

It’s a silly stat and not just an additional one to throw in for Justin, but he’s like 6-26 as a starter. Footballs a team game, but come on man

Feel like there’s an assumption here that anyone who thinks Caleb > Fields must also like Flus and Getsy.

I want a new staff and a new QB. I want a reboot entirely here. I don’t hate Fields, I think he’s up and down but provides some big plays and certainly wasn’t the primary reason we lost this game. I also am so, so unspeakably tired of every game he starts ending with a strip sack fumble.

I just don’t think ANY of it is good enough.

And it’s every single Bears QB. You could count on Cutler, Trubisky and Sexy Rexy to constantly blow it in the 4th as well. Pedestrian O lines are to blame as well, but this pattern is nauseating.

Justin Fields is 29th in the NFL in passing yards. He was 26th last year.

Aren’t you tired of having a bottom of the league passing game?

Still had 334 yards of offense. Still had to use his legs or rely on Moore to generate offense. Still not a distributor of the ball.

“He had to rely on his legs”? Most of those play were designed zone/read plays that worked. That was on the coaches. “334 yards of offense?” If that’s was a Josh Allen stat line everybody be kissing his butt. “Rely on Moore?” Every quarterback doesn’t rely on his number one receiver? Wtf do you people even be talking about. The real tragedy is that he only has one receiver he can even rely on and has played 75% of his career behind a terrible offensive line.

Moore is the only one who can consistently catch his throws because he is often off target/doesn’t throw a catchable ball. Even the big “drop” yesterday would have required an acrobatic highlight reel type of play to catch. And before you go off about how it’s the receiver’s fault for slowing down, the receiver “misjudged” the ball because it was supposed to have more loft to run under it. He does this crap all the time.

Look at Stroud’s numbers and supporting cast. Eh doesn’t he have all these excuses? Because he’s a good passer and doesn’t need them. Personally, I’d rather have a QB who is elite at throwing the ball and not running read options.

I know you don’t have a clue about football if you blame Fields for his wr stopping his go route and “misjudging” a ball. If you’ve ever played football you’d know if it touches your hands as a wr it’s your fault and you must run through the ball on that route. That’s ridiculous. Also, if you knew ANYTHING about football you’d know Stroud is throwing behind an offensive line rated in the top five in pass protection. Fields actually is “elite” at throwing the deep ball as he’s ranked amongst the top deep ball percentage completion qbs the past two years. Again, if you knew anything about football you’d know that.

I said this in the discord earlier. I’m not a Fields believer but he’s more than fine enough to build around. The. Worry about the QB situation. If we keep picking QB’s we’re not going to have a team built to win.

    Oh and fire the coaches

Doesn’t matter who the QB is if the coaching staff sucks. If we hire a good HC I’ll trust whatever their decision is around the QB position (along with Poles, who has quietly built a solid roster).

But yes the main problem with the Bears right now is the coaching staff and not the players.

Completely agree OP. This coaching staff needs to be the first fired during the season. Idc if it’s just Eberflus, we know Getsy is likely gone after this year. You cannot win games with a coach that doesn’t want to actually win. Eberflus in critical drives is basically prevent. We gave up 3 touchdowns in the most critical junctures of the game when we otherwise made Goff look like a fool

I can not remember Justin fields ever leading a successful 2 minute drive 3 years into his career. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, he is the most anti-clutch QB I’ve ever seen.

The story is like clockwork at this point:

Close game in the fourth Quarter. Bears have a chance to win/tie. Justin fields turns the ball over/gets sacked for a big loss

Stupid meathead takes arguing about other meathead takes.

I don’t think Fields is the future so according to most on here then I must want Bagent, or to draft Williams/Maye, or that the coaches are fine.

Fields IS a better QB than Bagent. I don’t think Williams or Maye are any better options, and I never fucking likes the Eberflus hire.

I’m good with Justin playing until we find a better solution, I just don’t think he’s the future. What has he done to cement that he’s a franchise QB? At some point the coaching staff/O-Line arguments get tired because he should be able to play over that. Kmet has proven to be a good target, they got DJ Moore, drafted a first round right tackle. Take a look at what Stroud is doing in his first year throwing to… who? He’s been sacked quite a bit as well (some of Justin’s sacks are absolutely on him holding on too long).

33 career starts and a rating of 82.9 aren’t franchise QB numbers. He’s got a few more starts to turn things around but at this point he’s on a trajectory that’s more similar to Patrick Williams rather than a foundational piece for the next decade.
