  • Personally, I believe that TE is one of the few positions where it’s a good thing that the sum of the parts can be better than the parts themselves.

Blocking, catching/route running, and YAC skills. If you can do one of those three, you’ve got a chance to make a team. If you can do two? You’ve probably got a pathway to starting and you’ll probably get paid.

Kmet may be average-to-above average at any of these, but that makes him good by comparison because there’s so many TEs that just exist on rosters and really don’t contribute much. No disrespect either, it just seems hard to stand out when you have to take on multiple roles on offense.

  • Absolute GARBAGE playcalling. How do you not have shot plays in your gameplan against a team that blitzes ~50% of the time?

Screens are fine, but you should be able to anticipate them getting out of blitzing if your scheme is working, where’s the counters to that?

How do you come up with a game script full of screen passes? Why are you game planning to run screens on 2nd and long?

I’ve literally never seen a coach call the same play 3 times in a row as much as Getsy has. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it at all, the arrogance is unbelievable. Aaron Rodgers ain’t back there man.

  • Number 1 target should always be Jim Harbaugh until he says no. I honestly think this team, really this entire organization, needs leadership.

He’s turned programs around and succeeded. His players believe in him wholeheartedly, and they believe in each other — that’s examples of real leadership. He understands the rivalry with the Packers, but more importantly, he understands the position and what it would take to get it right HERE, where he played.

Hiring Jim Harbaugh, at least going after him intensely, would convince me this organization knows what needs to be done to move out of the basement of the NFL.

Hiring another flavor-of-the-week “genius” coach tells me they’re grasping at straws, hoping something works. We just tried it with Luke Getsy, we tried it with Matt Nagy, we tried it with Dowell Loggains, we tried it with Adam Gase, we tried it with Marc Trestman.

  • This coaching staff is full of frauds and men incapable of leadership.

This team lacks discipline and identity. It shows up all 3 phases of the game, especially offense. Players don’t know where to line up, constant boneheaded penalties, guys running into each other, etc.

This team is extremely “behind the times” on both sides. Little-to-no misdirection, creativity, or innovation on either side. Our coaches call games like it’s the preseason, every single week, and it makes you wonder what they actually do DURING the week to prepare.

An extension of the previous point — our coaching staff is out of their depth. They’re still falling victim to classic traps that are hallmarks of bad coaching: playing not to lose/being overly conservative, focusing more on Xs and Os over putting guys in the best position to succeed, failing to adapt, etc. They seem out of touch with the players as a whole.

This team needs a leader, BADLY. The McCaskey’s need to swallow their pride and go after Harbaugh, but honestly I wouldn’t mind a candidate out of left field: Dave Toub. Make Toub an offer he can’t resist, he’s past due to get a shot as a HC.
