Head Coach: Jim Harbaugh DC: Bill Belichick OC: Peyton Manning QB: Tom Brady
OKAY HEAR ME OIT I HAVE PUT A LOT OF THIUGHT INTO THIS BUT NONE OF IT REASONABLE
Fields has literally gotten better ever season in every meaningful metric
We’re just a few years away from Sam Darnold going for a 2nd, 4th, and 6th.
If he shows well—even in just a few of the seven games left—a first rounder is possible. More likely a 2nd, but he will be valued higher than Darnold was.
It only takes one team to see his highlights and blame the Bears for his lowlights. And they might be right.
You’re severely underestimating the QB market.
Sam Darnold went for a 2nd, 4th, and 6th and never showed the upside Fields has shown.
There’s a lot of, “I can fix him” ego in the NFL coaching ranks. It only takes one, and there will be at least one out there who sees his athletic talent and thinks they can do better than Getsy.
And like…they probably can.
Second time ever that an undrafted rookie beat a #1 overall pick
Yeah that was terrible. I get it from the ref, the defender sold it well and made it look like a pick, you catch that out of the corner of your eye you call it.
But we need review of penalties. Really we need someone with instant review capabilities who can speak to the ref and tell them to pick up the flag. Doesn’t need to delay the game, we all saw it before the call was actually made.
We just need someone who can quickly overrule obvious bad calls like that one. There’s absolutely no reason that should be allowed to stand.
Rounding out the top 10, two former Bears QBs and a rival the Bears made look promising week 1.
You’re correct. You can only negotiate with a player under contract with another team if given permission.
The big difference with the Mack trade was compensation level. No team is giving two 1sts without a long term guarantee.
In that case it’s good for both teams because that guarantee can get a higher return for the trading team, and guarantees for the destination team.
In this case the trades were last minute and Washington just wanted these guys gone and didn’t want to get bogged down in an extra layer of negotiation by getting the player and agent involved. It may have reduced overall interest or potential compensation but it also expedited the process.
Listen to the first 15 minutes of Jason Goff’s podcast.
Washington beat writer (who knows more than national reporters) basically said Sweat was on consensus more valuable player than Young. Said a 2nd was higher than he expected but he did have one high up personnel person say he’d give a 2nd for Sweat and a 3rd for Young, so we’re not alone here.
Also said Sweat is better than anyone you’re drafting in the 2nd, so it’s positive value for the Bears assuming an extension is coming.
Same, man. The tailgate grill barely gave off any heat at all.
Ruined a pair of gloves because I forgot tongs and flipped my brats with my hands.
We were in the end zone where the game-ending TD happened, it was such a fun time.
