I would also like to point out the double standard. While this is a fine… I mean freaking fiiiiiine picture.

To the point the dumb shit was trying to make, there is a picture of Pierce Brosnan on a beach with a giant gut. Don’t see the dude posting that kind of shit.

It’s not this tweet, but I have seen people try shaming Brosnan over that.

There are unhealthy beauty standards set to both genders. They’re just geared differently. Women are suppose to be prizes and men are suppose to be warriors. Tate is the result of decades of masculine marketing and the exact thing the movie Fight Club warned about.

Look at what they did to Luke Skywalker toys over time.

And the real tell is that the warrior ideal combined with super broad chest and shoulders are meant to denote strength, but the strongest men tend to be thick through the middle and lack the bodybuilder v-taper they give these toys. Not that bodybuilders aren’t stronger than most people by far, but when you look at the people who hold records for lifting the most weight they’re nothing like those toys. It’s just as shallow and dumb as a lot of women’s beauty standards.

Its highly ironic that both genders are failing at what they are supposed to be though. Women are not prices and men are not warriors. We know this. No?

        Its just marketing. :)

If anything, the gender wars have shown how women can be just as awful as men. No gender is a price or warrior. We are just… People.

We are? I can attest that I most certainly am not allowed to be fat and get derogatory comments about it sporadically. I’m not even that heavy, I just got a growing beer gut and like 4kg overweight. Humans get shit for their looks, it isn’t compartmentalized across genders.

Oh man I feel you. I look good and still have hair, I just get shit for looking tired and fat. But society’s general aversion to baldness is very fucked up, and the girl power movement complaining about unfair ideals are all guilty of being just as bigoted against male issues like that one.

It’s as if we should all collectively be nicer and more tolerant towards one another regardless of sex, culture, color of skin or whatever, not just be upset when whatever particular demographic you happen to belong to gets shit. There are very valid positions to hold for, as example in case, feminism, but there is also a shitload of people who just proclaim themselves to be feminist and spew some sort of moral indignation while doing the exact same shit toward others.

It’s infuriating. Thanks for coming to my unsolicited rant. Try the crab salad.

I think it’s even worse than the double standard. Saying that people shouldn’t get married because some decades later your spouse might not be hot is infuriating to me. You’re with someone for decades - if the only reason you’re with them is because they were smoking hot at 25, you’re immensely shallow and immature. People get old. Age happens.

If someone is with someone for decades because their partner was smoking hot at 25 either their partner is still smoking hot or there’s something else going on, because most people don’t stay the same level of smoking hot for decades. People who are with someone only for looks won’t stick around for decades.

His wife is still very attractive, but what if she wasn’t? It wouldn’t mean a goddamn thing, would it?

Beauty may be the reason why you are attracted to a person in the first place, but it’s not at the top of the list of reasons why you stay with a person.

It’s hard for me to even imagine being that shallow.

Which makes you wonder why people even pick partners based on beauty. It would make more sense to pick them based on personality.

That being said, I value very much that my girlfriend takes care of herself even with many years in a relationship. She could easily become fat but she exercises and stays fit, and I do the same. For us its important, but its not the main reason we are together.

Demisexuals are likely more common among men than you realize but face intense social stigma if they date women who are fat or ugly. This is known to negatively impact men who prefer fat women for example and likely impacts demisexual men as well.

Either way, they seem like a fantastic match for eachother.
