The curse of “may you live in interesting times”

I didn’t want that even as a kid! I was boring! I wanted boring! I did not want to exist in a period in a history book that went “and then it got worse” no! It’s horrible

It is pretty shitty right now, but I am glad that I live in the period after the invention of pencillin and all kinds of antibiotics. The greatest inventions in history in my personal opinion. In fact modern medicine in general.

There really are two distinct historical periods, before and after modern medicine. The difference cannot be overestimated.

Yes, when I read that time when Ancient Rome collapsed, I thought it might have been interesting times. Now when the whole western civilization is about to collapse I think this is not interesting time to live.

Yeah nah. My gf asked if I wanted to live in a different period in history and I just said I would not want to live any other time except mayve being born 10 years earlier than I was. She was baffled

If I can go back with all my knowledge I’m down. Isekai me! If I have to go back and live an ordinary life on my own innate merits, though, fuck that.

I’d go both cases honestly. As long as my gf goes back as well and I still get to be with her. Being born in the early 90s would not have been so bad I think
