It doesn’t have the same feel and communist vibe that we get with TNG or DS9. All the new Trek shows aside from Lower Decks just feel an American military show set in space with slick CGI bullshit.

It’s been a while, but I couldn’t make it through the first season. I just didn’t like it. It was a boring show with dumb tech and a very uninteresting plot.

And it had nothing to do with gender/sexuality/ethnicity or whatever of the main protagonist. To suggest otherwise without any argument to back up that claim is inflammatory at best, dishonest at worst.

It’s cool if people like it, we all have different tastes.

Also what was the point of this post? Did you really expect people to come to a Trek community and announce that they’re a bigot?

It is a well known fact that white people have a racial bias against black people either conscious or unconscious due to the way that our society is structured.

Sure, it’ll get you inflamated if you are so fragile to not be able to discuss racial bias in the media. Just see what happened with the little mermaid. We should all keep quiet about race base discussion in the media not to get people like you inflamated, right?

I expected people to have an honest discussion about racial bias in the media and how it reflects on the liking or disliking of Discovery.

      Your fragility is unreal!

As someone mentioned, there is DS9 and even Voyager. For me, I couldn’t even finish watching the first episode. It just didn’t seem like Star Trek to me. It had more of a Star Trek movies (new ones) vibe, and I just couldn’t stand it.

I thought the first season was okay. Second season was pretty decent. Third season I couldn’t take it anymore.

My perception was that every episode was written to give a character opportunity to give soap-boxy monologue about whatever social justice warrior topic was in the news a few months prior.

I’m very leftist already, but holy shit people. I get it, the writers saw opportunity to speak out a bit.

I also know that not everything has to be written for me. I’m glad that there is more diversity in the ST universe and that the show is connecting with new demographics.

All in all, I’m glad it exists and that people do enjoy it, even if I’m no longer one of those people.

It’s the combination of crying, constantly breaking the rules, and Super Michael saves the day that gets to me. Saying that, I like the series though. In between the faults, there’s a decent sci fi show.

Although the storyline is a bit played out, Discovery is one of my favorites. I love the new ideas, people, and tech the series explored. (BTW, I’m a white man)
