After getting burnt on the unRAID license change and the restriction on security updates, I figured there had to be a simple os that I can essentially set, forget, and easily update when I need, which also uses SnapRAID. I might just try this out.
Okay yeah that’s very true the proctoring systems suck entire ass.
I do love open source, but hearing “Moodle” aged me like a decade lmao. Also nextcloud for everything? I guess having every tool you need centralized makes sense but I do wonder how well it scales across tens of thousands of people.
I really don’t get the Chromebook complaint. It just needs to browse the internet, and a Chromebook is damn solid at that at a super reasonable price and are rugged as hell. Yeah I wish schools didn’t hook into the g suite but like what, you want em on a windows machine to do the same things as on chrome os?
This and grapheneos were the two big reasons I got a pixel 8 after I broke my 5 on a small drop. The third was I got it for basically perfect condition for $350 on ebay which is so baller.
Oh my god finally found exactly the kinda thing I wanted with even more than I bargained for.
Yeah UI could use a tiny bit of polishing but it’s still very fluid, damn.
https://floorp.app/ Been lovin this fork solely because the vertical tab bar integration is awesome.
Here’s to hoping a solid sbc with gpio pins and solid software support shows up as a competitor to keep them in check?
I agree with you, but I still hope for your sake and others that you drive relatively safe and make good driving choices lmao
I know it’s been years since they changed this but I’m still upset. But it doesn’t change much cause I also just look up everything before I watch it since there’s no way in hell I trust companies not to filter reviews lol.
HAHA I wonder how many people do this. Does sound kind of useful.
Yeah this honestly makes me hesitant to download idk why there are so many data sharing permissions. Maybe they’re default?
My parents won’t necessarily be using the NAS, I’d just be using some kind of system (maybe even just a raspi) as a remote backup solution with a wireguard tunnel to my local NAS, but if a drive fails, I’d be about 700 miles away to manage it.
If it was a perfect world, I’d like to just ship a new drive to my parents and tell them to unplug the failing one and plug in the new one, then manage the rest automatically/myself remotely, but I assume that’s a pipe dream.
Damn that R720 sounds like a great all-in-one solution. Is the power draw manageable?
Also woah! Helium filled drives? What’s the lifespan/risk on those if they’ve already gotten their lifespan cut short?
What do you even fly if you’re in Canada, then? I’ve heard WestJet took a turn downward a few years back.
Absolutely. My friends and I just flew with Ryanair from Rome to Barcelona, and besides almost losing my mobile boarding pass because I almost lost my phone, it was completely fine. I’ve heard a lot of things about them strictly enforcing luggage sizes, so I just made sure I only bought the tickets through the official website while ignoring the upselling dark patterns and got bags I knew would absolutely fit the stricter luggage requirements.
Given the alternatives were either Wizz, Lufthansa, or Easyjet for a direct flight, I think I made the right decision.
Oh THAT’S what repos are for? I assumed they were all independently structured and incompatible with each other for different reasons lmao.
Don’t forget Bluetooth has absolutely shit audio quality while using the microphone with how it handles call audio (although I’m praying BLE audio fixes this). Also true wireless earbuds can’t compare at all to wired earbuds microphones in the slightest.
I’m 21 and a decent amount of my friends assume I’m already in the group chats where plans are made, and when they remember I’m not, push me to get an iPhone instead of switching to a platform where I can be included. It’s shitty, but everyone else gets the info so it’s okay.
Even my 36-year-old cousin said she wouldn’t date anyone who didn’t have an iPhone.
At this point, I’m happy Instagram has come up as a platform everyone usually has an account on (even if it fucking sucks) just so that I am accessible for friends to easily add me to groups.
Became? 🤔
