I’ve purchased almost everything used except for the case (using a Fractal Design Define 7 XL and Fractal Design R5).

Used/retired enterprise hardware has virtually zero market, so it’s dirt cheap.

I’m using Dell Precision motherboards and Intel Xeon CPUs in both of my main production servers because each motherboard/CPU combo ran about $30 each.

For hard drives specifically I almost always buy used, but I always buy enterprise/NAS drives (HGST DC, Seagate Exos, and Western Digital Red Plus to name a few).

I’ve been buying all of my hard drives from GoHardDrive and Worldwide Product Importers (a competitor in this space).

I have bought a little over 20x at this point of various sizes (8TB to 12TB) and brands (WD, HGST, and Seagate), a few years later and they’re all still running like clockwork. I also only buy NAS/enterprise grade drives.

I’ve never purchased an “MDD” branded drive though, which is just a relabeled drive, but by the looks of the listing, looks like a Seagate Exos drive?

The hard drives always came with a warranty card that confirmed the warranty period and information on how to file a claim if needed.

You have to carefully read the listings, as some but not all will state a 1, 3 , or 5 year warranty on certain listings.
