Lol the dronies are all over this post I see
An example of things working as they should could be found in microprocessors. ARM design almost all of the processors in our phones
This is especially hilarious because the whole reason RISC-V has been developing rapidly is because the ARM monopoly isn’t an example of things working as they should, and companies want an alternative
It’s based on Silverblue instead of Workstation and has very different features, such as Waydroid set up out of the box, they also have a Steam Deck variant that more closely matches the SteamOS experience
Except that’s also a lie, because as the new GN video talking about that response points out, Linus only contacted Billet about it after the GN video was posted, and they absolutely had not “arranged to compensate Billet for the prototype” yet
Its the only DE with good, seamless fingerprint support for example
What do you mean? I’ve never had a problem with it on KDE, Fedora at least
Huh? It does work lol, there’s flatpak uninstall --unused --delete-data
(and you can also pass --delete-data
when uninstalling individual Flatpaks, to be more selective), this is just someone’s new GUI app to do the same thing, and you could already do it through KDE Discover for example
Unfortunately one of the most vocal defenders in this thread is someone from here 😩
I think it’ll never stop being surreal to me to see people from Mastodon instances comment on posts here
Also, a lot of people seem to think that being a kid means that you just play videogames or whatever all day
Other people have commented on the more important points, so I’m gonna add to this one
The biggest reason a lot of kids do nothing but “stay home and play video games all day” is because they literally have nothing better to do, the car-dependent suburbs that are very common in North America (which are often considered “great places to raise children”) leave kids with an inability to do anything (such as hang out with friends or go to public places) without their parents driving them around, so if their parents won’t/can’t do that then there’s nothing really else to do than just stay home, so the kids can’t have any real “freedom” until they become old enough to drive
As well, kids often aren’t even allowed to be given any level of independence these days, with things as simple as “a kid being outside on their own” (even just within their family’s property, if the neighbors are being narcs) being something that can be reported to the police and the parents potentially losing custody over
It’s okay though, we’re totally not a dystopian police state, right? /s
I have Fedora on an old Lenovo Chromebook, the on-by-default btrfs compression goes a long way on that 16GB eMMC
little games like Undertale and Minecraft
God I miss when Minecraft was a small game, Microsoft stuffed it full of greedy DLC and made Bedrock version (which was designed to be the “faster” Minecraft ) so slow from the bloat that the Switch version is damn near unplayable now
If they’re not from Lemmygrad, then it’s probably safe to assume they’re for real
HoloISO is essentially a version of Valve’s SteamOS 3 repackaged to run on systems other than the Steam Deck, since Valve hasn’t released a general-purpose one yet
People generally use it so that they can get as close to the Steam Deck’s user experience as possible, though most people usually agree that a more standard desktop distro is a better idea unless you’re using console-like device entirely for gaming
First time I’ve ever seen a “-1 comments” lol
Kinda wish there was a custom theme feature on Lemmy, but for now I use litely-red (people who complain about light themes just don’t know how to turn their screen brightness down lol)
I didn’t say that we should copy everything from reddit, just that I like most of these particular changes (though I agree on the “OP” flair change being unnecessary), I find the denser layout a lot more usable on desktop without being quite as compact as old reddit
I don’t really understand all the complaints about the text size, it seems about in line with most other sites now instead of being oddly larger
I also really appreciate there being a bit less padding on the posts because barely any posts could fit in a single screen before, it feels a lot more sensible now
Using more width now is also really nice, it was kinda silly how small it crunched down even on relatively small monitors
The next? Call of Duty: WWII already came out six years ago and only had an American campaign lol
It was honestly pretty hilarious how hard that one went into “America won WWII” territory when previous WWII ones were pretty good about showing how other countries made the bigger contributions (even with them still having biases and propaganda), most of them had a Russian campaign too
