  • I don’t know if he’s the better QB right now. I actually think Bagent does a better job getting the offense into a rhythm. But Fields clearly has a much MUCH higher ceiling than Bagent does. Fields biggest issue since he came into the league was hitting the layup throws. He hasn’t made much progress in that area so far. I also think that the Bears offense is still lacking another legitimate playmaker. You have to have at least two on your team or you’re not going anywhere. We have one.

  • This is exactly it. Think Brady or Breese style as a Bagent comp. Could they throw the deep ball? Yes. Can Bagent? Don’t know yet. But mainly Brady and Breese sustained drives and wore down defenses. They were dink and dunkers that focused on creating momentum and getting into the right checks. Always having positive plays, make 3rd down easy and end the drive in a TD, FG or punt to flip the field. Basically, exceptional game managers. Even Mahomes just looks for Kelce most of the time through the short/intermediate portion of the field. Then he make plays when he has to just like Brady and Breese could but in a different way. The greats are always clutch.

Bagent beat a mediocre Raiders team and still has so much to prove. But the things he did in that game are the things you need to do to win in the NFL like execute the game plan, read the defense, make the correct run/pass checks, take care of the ball, make quick decisions, throw the ball accurately and get the team into tempo. He looked like a veteran in his first game as a rookie from a D2 school. But Justin has never looked like a veteran at all. Not even once. Bagent also has the gumption that an elite QB needs. It’s like he knows he’s good and he knows he has the killer instincts. Again, lots to prove but let him go out there and prove it. If things change, go back to Fields. But Bagent looks the part and it’s intriguing.
