It feels weird having such a sensible suggestion come from National actually.

Isn’t the whole point of the legislation encouraging just what you’re suggesting though?
Did you not look at the community or instance? That should have been a clue.
That’s easy to say, but the truth is landlords are absolutely held accountable. The tenancy tribunal is heavily in favour of the tenant, meaning the burden of proof is on the landlord, which is fair enough.
I posted a story here a few days ago about a landlord getting reamed out over dodgy practices actually.
Yup.
It’s weird that National are doing more about housing affordability than Labour, given that National are typically the party of business, while Labour are supposed to, you know, look after the working class
And there is nothing in that proposition that is especially difficult to do, meaning it will probably happen.
You say this as though “housing developers” are one entity that works together, rather than a group of businesses all competing with each other, and not necessarily all that fond of the competition.
There’s a community here dedicated to Facebook nuttery, insanepeoplefacebook, it’s mostly sovereign citizen stuff.
I can believe it.
It reads to me that she went back to the police, and spoke further with them about that night, which led to the more serious charges being placed.
There’s also this though.
The man was arrested again on 5 March, after speeding from police on his motorbike when they tried to pull him over. He was charged with having carried out a threatening act towards a house and a person in it; failing to comply with a search, and two charges of intentional damage, linked to the events at Reese’s property.
It sounds to me that the police didn’t put the full story in front of the judge the first time, as the charges were different, and more severe, the second time.
It also definitely sounds like the house and the victim weren’t chosen at random.
I’ve also seen the intended message lost in the noise, for example most people seem to think restore passenger rail want more commuter trains, and aren’t aware that they are actually in favour of intercity rail.
Not only have they achieved nothing but pissing off tradies, but most people think they’re protesting for something else entirely.
The point of a protest should be to gain support, not awareness. If you double the number of people who are aware of your cause, but they now hate you, that’s not really progress.
I’ve said this before on other posts, but we are far too tolerant of people disrupting the lives of others for the sake of a cause, and it’s time these types of stunts result in stiff penalties.
It’s also not a good way to gain support for your cause.
In that case, I suspect you’re right. That business sounds like a clown show.
Your first response is to basically point out how this isn’t really that big of a deal
Gotta minimise this somehow, don’t you?
There are DC-3 aircraft that were built prior to WW2 still in commercial service, most notably by Buffalo airways in Canada. Having said that, a modern airliner is a much more complex beast, so much harder to keep running as it ages.
It also sounds like the fuses blowing and spoilers being removed are symptoms of a bigger issue.
I mean, they definitely would be cheaper if the clapped out dunger of a plane breaks down, and you need to fly commercial on the way back, meanwhile the air force plane flies back empty later on.
Not really, this is a pretty shocking abuse of power if true, and he is the leader of the government.
There is a greenfield development in Upper Hutt that is nearing completion, on a former Ag Research piece of land. It’s a very dense development, a mixture of townhouses and stand alone buildings, with the standalone buildings mostly multi story. Still has walking access to public transport and shops, too.
It’s definitely easier to build on a large scale when starting from scratch like that.
