Governor Abbott Issues Statement On Texas’ Constitutional Right To Self-Defense

January 24, 2024 | Austin, Texas | Press Release

Governor Greg Abbott today issued a statement on Texas’ constitutional right to defend and protect itself as President Joe Biden continues to attack Texas and refuse to perform his duties to secure the border.

“The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now,” reads the statement. “President Biden has instructed his agencies to ignore federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary.”

Eject Texas from the union the day before the election.
Dumb Texan yankoids go out to vote but there’s pandemonium because they’re not part of America and there are no Texan electoral college votes which would have otherwise fallen to Trump.
This causes genocide Joe to clearly win the election.
Demand that Texas rejoins the union the day after the election.
When they refuse, drone strike Abbott’s house directly and the state capital as you control the empire security apparatus.

    Do it you fucking coward

For reference Article I, § 10, Clause 3 of the federal US constitution says:

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

So it looks the TX gov is trying to supercede federal policy on the border by claiming an invasion, empowering the state to do whatever it wants

So when Biden takes some action to resolve this, but in the process of so doing tacitly agrees with Abbott either by action or word, what then…

We really are going to end up invading Mexico, aren’t we

And it’ll be as a ‘compromise’

I think he’s trying to put Biden in an unwinnable situation. Biden either backs down and looks like a wimp or rolls out the National Guard to pull down the wire and “let the migrants in.”

Deliberately defying federal court orders and then bragging about it.

Feds told Abbott to take down the razor wire. Abbott made the Texan Guard put it back up, then claimed Biden is violating the constitution. A stronger politician than Biden would arrest Abbott but nothing will happen because it’s all theater anyway. Abbott doesn’t truly give a shit and the razor wire is like 40 feet across a bridge that doesn’t have migrant crossings anyway.

Abbot is hardly a political opponent on level with the president, but also unironically this dude legitimately defied orders from the federal government so yeah he should be arrested if Biden actually had the will to do it.

Seditious Conspiracy. I would love a federal investigation as to who is funding and cordinating the flow of migrants and arms to the cartels. If there is any bit of texas government or major corporations (cough EXXON TESLA) deliberately making things worse or facilitating these conditions to then cry about the conditions they facilitated for political points. All to “oppose” federal policy or rule. I think that would fall under that.

Literally all of this is theater. The chicken wire that the Texas guard put up isn’t even at the locations where people are crossing the border. It’s also like 40 feet of it. You can walk around it.

Abbott’s an idiot. Texas would never be able to muster up a secession or even a federal court case.

None of that matters. Who wins and who backs down doesn’t matter and whether there’s violence doesn’t matter.

It’s about the precedent and the demonstrated loss of legitimacy of the federal government. It’s either civil war or the evaporation of the empire now, no more offramps

I lack the imagination necessary to guess what would be next. I agree with you that America ending is the only eventual conclusion. But I think the actors involved don’t even know how to do it. None of these people know what genuine conflict is or how to do it. Their lives are built on comfort.

We’re at the precipice and all actors involved are confused and comfortable. Abbott doesn’t want a civil war. He’s a millionaire. No elected official in America is prepared for a situation where they might reasonable be assassinated or their house burned down. None of them want a warzone in their front yard. They want to continue their happy little lives going to PF Chang’s every Sunday and trips to Venice every year.

It’s all theater until the moment they’re ready to die.

Here’s one possibility: Devolution of federal powers, and the emergence of a dual power system through interstate alliances. Eventually the federal union becomes meaningless and balkanization has already arrived.

But the appearance of a “strong” external enemy could still prevent this.

Biden is making a mistake by not handling this aggressively. might makes right. People see power being exercised, and will naturally assume the person being targeted did something to deserve it. If they arrest him really gently, people will think they’re spineless fascists. they’re missing an opportunity if they don’t do something dramatic with national guard helicopters landing on his lawn.

Coincidentally, wasn’t one of those Bundy freaks also at the Capitol on Jan 6 trying to start shit? So you could even just point to the liberals’ own “worst attack on our democracy” and show them that you probably shouldn’t tolerate this kind of behaviour, since otherwise they become emboldened and try again.
