This sounds like preparations for a blockade of Yemen’s ports. Am I reading this right?

It’s probably the most effective way to prevent them from receiving Iranian weapons and shooting them at civilian ships.

If the Houthis cease their attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the United States will immediately reevaluate this designation.

All they gotta do is stop shooting at civilian ships and everyone will go back to not blowing up their assault facilities and preventing weapon shipments.

They have only been getting bombed by the US/UK for a week after attacking civilian shipping since November. Other people might have been bombing them earlier, but the US/UK would be happy to go back to not bombing them if they stop touching the boats.

Well the Saudis have been using US made weapons the entire time. The idea that “we’ll quit bombing you” is a good bargaining chip when the bombs are not going to stop is optimistic at best.
