    This article has it backwards. The Bears threw a million screens because they don’t trust Fields to actually throw the ball down the field. Eberflus is desperately trying to save his job and has decided that playing ultra conservative is the way to do so. Maybe that’s wrong but it doesn’t exactly look great for Fields.

      This point is so dumb. If you’re trying to save your job as a coach, the number one thing you should never do is call a shit game. You call well designed plays and if the QB can’t make them then you can make the case that you need a new QB.

      Shit play calling makes you look like the problem and you’re just tossing the QB under the bus to save your own neck.

      And you should also make damn sure the rest of the team isn’t making dumb mental errors constantly by being at the bottom of the league in penalties. You should make sure the rest of the team is living up to their potential.

      No one is being put in a place to succeed by calling 17 screen passes a game.
