Only posting this because I see this discussion constantly on this sub

I sincerely believe that the bears organization makes QB’s worse. There is simply something about their internal philosophy at Halas Hall that disrupts growth of would be great players.

I am not a football expert, just calling it like I see it. For example, had Patrick Mahomes come to Chicago, I genuinely believe he would be significantly less respected today - and it would be almost entirely the fault of the Chicago bears organization. (Or disorganization, rather)

If you believe that basic concept, then it honestly doesn’t matter who we draft. (Or don’t) It isn’t even a debate really, we have the worst (the NFL worst) history of QB’s in Chicago. The bears used 35 starting quarterbacks during the Farve/Rodgers era…

Our legacy is literally drafting a new QB every 3 years, ruining his career, and taking a desperate shot in the dark in hopes for a different result using the same methods. This has been happening for decades

Honestly, if I were a QB getting drafted by the Bears, it would feel like a death sentence.

Every new QB we draft, I see people question “Are the Bears hurting his devolvement?” Bro of course we are - that seems to be the ONE thing the McCaskeys are good at.

So, seriously - does it matter AT ALL who we draft or don’t? Why are we even talking about it anymore? There is an illness that runs so deep within the bears organization that I truly do not think even the best QB would make a difference.

Either way, after this season the #1 thing the bears should do is clean house in the coaching department. I actually think you guys have a talented roster. Some legitimate blue chip players in Jaylon Johnson and Teven Jenkins. Possibly Darnell Wright and Montez Sweat.

Bring in an offensive head coach. No matter who the QB is, they first need a legitimate offensive mind to build around their talents. If the coach is the guy, leave it up to him. Stick with Fields or draft a guy. I think y’all can be a 10-7 team next year IF all goes well.

Just say bad teams should never draft a quarterback, because, which types of teams are the ones in positions to draft a high pick qb? I don’t understand the point of your post, unless it’s just you thinking out loud?

The Bears have literally never drafted a quarterback as highly regarded by scouts as Caleb or Maye. Trubisky was a top 2 QB in a poor class(Analysts had Watson 60-40) and a famous reach at #2. Fields was QB4 despite madden stats in college and several QB needy teams on the board.

It’s like saying, why should we draft MHJ, our WR history is miserable.

I think Williams’ stock will dip quite a bit once draft season revs up. Not sure how much it changes him as a prospect, but things began to unravel at the end there this season. In his defense, the overall culture at USC under Lincoln Riley seems pretty awful right now and a lot of it probably isn’t Caleb’s fault. I’m just adding this context because draft rankings are notorious for not really updating until the season is over, and I’m positive the discourse around him will change once more people start watching this year’s film. He definitely still has the best tools, but he didn’t have the same polish other QBs showed as the year progressed.

Personally I still like the idea of taking him, but I’d want him to sit and learn a year while we still have Justin under contract.

There are other cursed franchises that figured it out. Anything can change, what matters is just getting competent staff. Which could happen? I don’t know, but I hate how pitiful some Bears fans act.

We drafted like 4 first round QBs in the last 25-30 years.

The only QB we’ve arguably failed to support and develop properly is Cutler.

The rest of the guys just weren’t good.

    I’ll never get this arguement.

Horrible/inept franchises turn it around with the right QB. Lawrence helped turn around JAX, Burrow in CIN, Stroud now in HOU, Cam in CAR.

You keep taking swings at the most important position in sports.

This is like saying all Ohio QBs are busts. Bears should only draft defensive players since that’s all they’re good at. This is a lazy argument you make when you’re football knowledge goes as far as “ask madden”

So what are we supposed to do, just run an offense without a QB? We need an NFL QB, we currently don’t have one, thus we are going to take one in the draft and hope it works out. I don’t get the point of this post

The only right answer is to extend Fields. He’ll put all together in a few years.

I agree. QBs that get drafted by the Bears need to get the biggest deal they can possibly get and then invest all of it in the S&P 500 immediately because they will be unemployed in 3 years.

The Bears have only been to 2 Super Bowls in the existence of the game and you could argue the QBs didn’t even get them there. The Bears have 3 quarterbacks who made it to the hall of fame in their 100 year history and none of them only played quarterback. Two of them played offense and defense and the other was a QB and a Kicker.

You have to keep trying, Christ, some year they have to just get lucky, it’s statistically impossible for them to not ever get one
