Wish he hadn’t kissed the ring, but he did turn Apple into the most successful tech company of all time.
Who grew Apple from a 346 billion company into a 3 trillion behemoth by focusing on supply chain optimization. From a business pov, he was insanely successful.
Well I can’t unbox and review a 800 dollar apple supply chain on YouTube for clicks, can I?!
Exactly. Whiners gonna whine.
The M chips have been a truly impressive innovation. But on so many other levels Apple under Cook has just been resting on laurels - including putting out absurd industrial design faux pas’s like placing charging ports on the bottom of mice, or power buttons on the bottom of MacMinis, as well as deliberately making so many of their products close to impossible to repair. And on a software level Apple is a total mediocrity, I’ve never encountered a worst file manager for a current OS than when I use MacOS for work (professional audio production) & iOS for my kiddo’s iPad. Somehow those flaws haven’t prevented its massive financial success with their cult, but that seems to go with the times these days.
Totally agree. The m series chips were not only good, but the transition went perfectly. There were a hundred different ways this should have gone wrong. It went great. Credit where it’s due, Apple were the only to ones to pull that off. Microsoft is still spinning their wheels.
The Vision Pro? Flop. Expensive, never found a niche. Really cool device but it never solved a problem for anyone.
Apple Watch? Had potential but they kept changing focus and now it’s just a heartbeat monitor that gives notifications. App development on them stalled out. It stagnated.
Mouse? Mouse.
Keyboards? They killed butterfly finally but that’s just going back to what was already fine.
MacOS is just fucking ugly and hard to use. They broke their own visual design rules to make things clunky and weird.
iPad is useless. Simple app split screen is a pain to use now and why are they applying desktop elements to it? There’s a reason that wasn’t done in the first place.
iPhone is actually doing fine though the AI shit is obnoxious and by now they should have had an answer to Samsung dex.
Airport was idiot proof wifi they killed for no damn reason.
All of this to serve shareholders and not users, then talk down to those of use displeased by it with the Tonedeaf statement “we think you’ll love it.”
Introducing the iShit; it looks so good that you won’t even notice the smell.
But yeah realistically Cr’Apple has done nothing worth a shit in my opinion. I’ve had iPhones since 4 and all I can say is I keep hating it more and more every year. Like the hardware is good but the OS is … I want to punch someone in the face angry. At this point you need a manual on how to use your phone; one with a few hundred pages, troubleshooting guide. I’m slowly switching to using my Linux based phone because honestly it’s easier. It’s like apple decided we want to make things as complicated as andriod. I need a phone for phone calls, texts, watching videos, and browsing the web. Somehow they fucked that up. Half the shit I wonder who the fuck signed off on this change. I got the phone in my left hand and my pecker in my right and yet the close tab button now is on the right side of the tab, so stretch your thumb.
Just using the phone feels like it does whatever it wants and I’m a backseat driver.
Yea the last year has felt like the gave up on QA entirely. There’s no polish. No obsession with little details you can’t really market but absolutely notice in day to day use. Nothing is intuitive or clever or even pleasant to use anymore. It’s hostile. I like my iPhone air but it will be my last Apple product. I’m going full Linux.
If something is screwed up, I want it to be my fault for free rather than someone else’s for $1000. My mistakes get fixed. Theirs get dragged out in profitable ways.
I totally agree. Same here, I make sure to say this is the last iPhone I will buy to it since it’s always listening anyway. Some of the UI stuff, I sit and wonder why? The worst part is when I boot up an old iphone to look at old pictures and it… works great.
I have zero problems with power buttons on the bottom of minis. It’s a total non issue that’s another clickbaity thing for people to bitch about.
No Mac user I know ever shuts their machine down completely. It’s very quiet so they just go to sleep and wake instantly when the mouse or keyboard are used.
I own a MacMini M4 and in contrast to your assertion there have been plenty of times I have fully shut down my Mac, or needed to access the bottom button (not just for powering up, but also for needing to access administrative level for certain app or hardware driver installs). I am glad it’s not something you have ever needed, but regardless, it remains an inherently poor design choice.
Don’t care, he sucks trumps dick. He’s a loser and should fuck off.
no no no. it’s “Tim Apple”
It’s Tim Cr’Apple
Not anymore.
The executive formerly known as Tim Apple
he bought and paid for it with that gold award. he will forever be Tim Apple to me.
They went from a company that pushed design then pushed it too far, so scaled back and then pushed consistent design.
Where they really excelled was pushing chip design.
Cook presided over the transition from Intel to Apple Silicon, giving Apple products a performance-per-watt advantage neither Intel/AMD nor other ARM vendors have yet caught up with. Surely that counts for something.
Jobs put in place a 10 year plan right before he left in 2010, the ARM switch was one of the final parts of that plan. This is why right around 2018/19 going into the ARM switch you see a bunch of foundering and weird shit like bringing back the Touch Bar and vaporware products like the charging mat. Because they literally had no fucking clue what to do for the next 10 years and there was a battle going on between the UX first people and the marketing first people. We can see who won by how many ads are being added and the whole Siri AI fiasco.
I’m sure he, a 70-something exec, had a huge role in that engineering feat 🙄 Probably just said “yes” when actual value-adding employees pitched him the idea. Bravo, rich white man. Another amazing achievement 👏
His legacy is giving Trump gold while bending the knee to America’s killer.
It’s not opinion, it’s fact.
Can’t take anyone seriously that drops in a giant ass complaint about white men being ceo. It’s just rage bait at this point. I’m tired boss.
Everyone who gives a fuck already knew he wasn’t a design guy. He’s logistics and production, which Apple wins against just about everyone.
Bye, bye, Timmy Apple.
I think Cook just led the company on refining and making higher quality versions of what they already made under Jobs.
I think the watch was his, but did Apple come out with anything really amazing other than the m series chips?
I think AirPods is also one of the largest businesses out there. Say what you will, but they created a problem and sold you a solution.
Great headphones and I’ve never worn wired since.
airpods are also really popular.
also Jobs may not have had any great products released in the last 15 years either. paradigm shifting stuff like ipods and iphones only come along once in a while.
granted the products that have been released probably would have been different in some way under jobs. For example, maybe Vision (or something like it) would have been more successfull under him. But we will never know.
We’re witnessing what happens to a company when they have a CEO that keeps responding with “don’t come to me with your problems”.
