The ownership and telemetry shenanigans were unfortunate but this does look good. It’s also good that this remains an opensource project with potentially viable funding attached.
I must admit I still run Audacity 2.x or whatever and have no problems with it. But there are a lot of QoL improvements here that I’m excited about.
Didn’t Audacit fall from grace, because of privacy-issues? I mean, this was one of the reasons for the Tenacity fork.

Opt-in, at least. You got it if you want it (with an extra install and several gigs of storage use), and it takes up no extra space if you, like me, prefer not to use it.
They use it for development now.
From what I’ve read they reversed course on the telemetry issues and have stayed true to that, so that’s nice. This overhaul might be worth a look after several years of turbulence.
Kinda sad to see they did end up changing the logo, it really looks awful…
That aside I am extremely excited for the new features. The telemetry controversy was overblown(it was still bad dont get me wrong) but I do fear for the future of this being corporate owned
