Among the 33 QBs with enough dropbacks to qualify, Bagent ranks first in the NFL, having been sacked on just 3.4% of his dropbacks. Fields ranks 32nd, the second-worst in the NFL, having been sacked on 12.9% of his dropbacks.
Maybe it’s the game plan, maybe it’s Teven, or maybe…JF1 simply can’t plug the trigger when he needs to.

Hmmm just maybe it’s based on the number of times they attempt to throw downfield…
I think everyone in this sub agrees Fields causes a lot of his own sacks. I’d say a lot of this is also OL getting better with Braxton back and Jenkins on the right side. I also think Bagent does a good job getting the ball out quicker than other QBs and limiting negative plays, but of course with that we lack explosive plays which fields has been able to create at a high level.
I am interested to see what it looks like this week with Davis back too.
To be fair the defenses also played them differently.
This year every time Fields has done a fake/rollout the DE on the other team focuses on Fields and doesn’t even think about the rb. That has not been the case with Bagent as QB.
Bagent game plan was all quick dinks and dunks which involve minimal pocket time.
QB with limited tools being asked to do a lot less, i.e., lots of short, quick throws between the numbers. They’re game planning around Bagent’s obvious weaknesses as a passer

The line is gonna look much worse if fields starts , and his truthers is gonna claim we have the worse Oline in the league and never to out the blame on the bust
To be fair - every single fanbase with a subpar young QB blames the o-line.
The Packers sub is doing it
The Panthers sub is doing it
etc, etc
I’m pretty sure that if he doesn’t play well the rest of the season, they’ll say his hand wasn’t fully healed. Therefore we should draft MHJ and an o lineman and run it back with fields and a new coaching staff.
Yet fields stores points
Bagent: Pocket passer using a limited playbook where 1/3 of his throws were behind the LoS and most of the others were inside of 10 yards.
Fields: Mobile QB who has one of the highest deep ball % in the NFL.
Not really an apples to apples comparison.
I mean this definitely makes sense…JF is constantly manipulating the pocket and moving around - making it so much harder on pass protection because their back is towards you so you give leverage back to the pass rusher being able to push off and readjust his rush.
Bagent stays tall and gets the ball out…he just has nothing else to his game aside from check downs. I think if he actually opened up and let it fly these numbers would look a lot worse. Can’t really sit here and say the offense has looked “improved”
