If we have a top 2 pick, it will be a QB (yes, Fields has 7 games to ‘prove it’ but odds of him doing enough to not take a qb are very very slim). Throw in if we move on from Flus and bring in a new coach, odds of QB are even higher yet.
I could see a trade down with the 2nd pick if Poles wanted to go DL or another WR if he decides to role with Jones at LT.

Justin Fields rookie contract is up. We have him next year, but then’s the extension. Daniel Jones set the market on guys with talent who kinda suck at QB, and if we’re brutally honest that’s what Fields is.
We have cap space right now, but that’s going to start to bleed away with a few signings. Extend Fields and that’s it, we’re basically out of money and it starts to become a balancing act.
Fields has shown flashes of being a good QB, but if you have the chance to break the bank to sign him long-term and hitch your entire roster to him or get 4 more years of a discount on a better prospect than he was, wisdom leans on value over loyalty.
This is exactly why I think, as a non bears fan, it’s best for Bears to move on from Fields. I do think if Fields balls out you maybe reconsider it, but the advantage of the rookie QB deal is monumental. Plus the cap space & draft picks you have available. The turnaround the Bears can have if they hit on the QB & find better coaching can be very quick, and I don’t see that turnaround happening with Fields. I could be wrong, I was wrong about Jalen Hurts.
But for me I think best course for you guys is take either Williams or Maye at 1, and the other 1 if in the top 10 range should be MHJ, the tackle from Penn St, or a trade down.
