CJ Stroud looks absolutely amazing and on a team that I would say is on par with our roster at best.

Poles said all along he needed to be blown away to stick at #1 and take a QB last year. By the time the combine rolled around he all but announced to the world the pick was for sale. I understand Fields showed flashes towards the end of last year and that played into that decision.

Fast forward to now and Stroud is blowing everyone away.

I think it’s fair to question what our staff missed on Stroud to be out on him immediately and whether or not we should be worried about them making the next decision on who our QB is.

20/20 hindsight – I would much rather have Stroud instead of the DJ Moore package and it’s not even close. Give me a franchise QB and figure out the rest of the line and WRs after that.

He was considered the #2 QB and like #4/5/6 overall prospect. The Bears traded down from #1 to #9 and picked up the potentially top pick this year, 2 additional 2nd rounders, and DJ Moore.

The reality is the Bears wouldn’t have taken him even if they kept #1.

Well he also went to Andy Reid so situation plays a big role in a qb’s success. Also did you think he would be THIS good back then?

I didn’t think Stroud or Mahomes would be good. But I’m not being paid to be GM. It doesn’t matter how many people didn’t realize it, it’s Poles job to make the right decision.

CJ Stroud is exactly the archetype of QB Poles and Getsy apparently want and they missed on it. You shouldn’t get a 2nd chance to miss again

I’m fine with how it worked out but what if Lovie didn’t win week 17?

We would have had #2 and it’s quite possible that Houston would have taken Bryce

Some scouts had Stroud #1 and some had him #2. The majority preferred Young but it wasn’t an overwhelming consensus.

The reality is that some GMs would have drafted Stroud #1 overall, some would have drafted Young #1, and some would have kept Fields and traded the pick like Poles did.

I’m hindsight, Poles should have drafted Stroud. There’s nothing wrong with admitting that. He made the wrong decision.

The worst possible thing he could do at this point is double down on Fields AGAIN and pass on another potential franchise QB.
