I have noticed a huge difference in battery life when switching between 4G and 5G. My iPhone on 5G gives me approx 7-8 hours battery life with approx 5 hours of screen on time. Switching to 4g, I get 9-12 hours battery life with 7-8 hours screen on time. ps: Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest, Reddit are my primary data consumers.
Hence, my question.

No. The modem is not part of SoC. iPhone 13 uses the Qualcomm X60 modem, 14 the X65 and 15 the X70. There’s only 1 modem, used for all connections 4G or 5G or whatever, but mmWave has a separate chip. 5G might reduce battery life because … well it requires more battery.
mmWave meaning 5G connection? Does the Japanese variant have this mmWave chip?
