If I use the search function either through the control panel or the Home Screen tile I only get results for music or podcasts.

Is anyone else experiencing this and/or know how to fix it?

I just discovered this problem a few days ago and was finally able to call Support. “They are aware of the issue and are working on it”. Boiler plate answer, but hopefully they’ll figure it out soon.

I just did a search and the same is true for me.

I do NOT use Apple Music and have changed nothing in terms of configuration so this appears to be a glitch that arose “spontaneously” and not from any user action.

I always found the Apple search to be a bit ineffective as it never picked up all the possibilities from my streamers anyway but this is really broken.

For a little more clarification. If I search just using Siri it will present a couple of TV/Movie options on the bottom right of the screen. But if I use the magnifying glass search tile or the search action in control panel the only results that get presented are for music or podcasts.

The feature that you’ve mentioned about showing popular TV shows/movies doesn’t appear anywhere anymore regardless of searching with Siri or search bar. The closest I can get to show popular TV shows/movies is using the iTunes apps on the Apple TV.

Yea seems like a bug having the same issue, but when you used to click on the magnifying glass, used to show you below the search, the most popular things being watched, and as you said, it is now moved to under iTunes movies, and shows but they don’t link to the streaming service you are logged into

Yeah it’s quite annoying as I came across a few cool shows with that feature and I imagine you did also.

I don’t know if it’s just me but there’s a lot of glitches in the Apple eco system at the moment. Well I hope they’re just glitches and not intentional changes. Like with Photos the Private Access feature (which is good for the most part) can’t be turned off, so if I want to only see/access certain photos in an app (a photo widget for example) I can’t use the Limited Access function anymore and have to scroll through all photos again to select only the ones I want access to. I think I’ve raised about 6 things like this with Apple over the last 2 weeks.

This is their Feedback Page to use if you’re having problems with apps etc. It’s not support page but more of a suggestion box in a sense. But worth using.

Also, remind you when the show came back. But definitely have found movies and TV shows from that list even a few Apple TV + stuff.

Yes, very annoying. If you open Apple TV app and search there it will search videos everywhere like the main search used to. Hopefully gets fixed soon, very annoyed to have to open a separate app to search when there’s a global search hanging out doing nothing

Yeah that’s it. Do you know when it started happening for you. I recently subscribed to Apple Music so was wondering if that was the catalyst for the change in the way the search function worked.

I’ve noticed it happening on mine the last week at least. I immediately thought maybe it had something to do with the screen writers having a new streaming deal or something but never looked into it. Been using IMDb to look up what app is streaming what movie because the only way to search on Apple TV now is the movies app which doesn’t show you the apps it’s on

I’ve been subscribed to apple music for over a year. So I am subbed if that happens to matter to them, but not a recent change. I initially noticed it when updated one of my apple tvs to 17.2 developer beta, but now all of them exhibit the same behavior despite not being on the beta. So I’m guessing it’s an app update of some sort
