I don’t like the idea that Q is aware he’s in a show. That implies that the show isn’t real internally, not just externally to us. We know that it’s a show, but I prefer it to pretend that it isn’t.

You also know somebody is running on empty when a show or movie franchise set in the future or a fantastic world transports their characters to “the present” for any extended period. Now, whether that’s the writers, the cast, or the accountants, no one can say.

In the original script he says they’re on “some kind of… Star Trek… the Next Generation?” but the movie was running a little long in the edit bay.

Wow, it’s a good thing the plans to make it a TAS movie fell through, then. That wouldn’t have made any sense at all.

The first one is odd, but ‘through a mirror darkly’ is itself a reference to a poetic use of language from the bible. It was around long before trek.

Of course. It’s references on top of references, but these 2 back to back inside of 1 minute is clearly on purpose.

I don’t watch NuTrek (other than lower decks). People tell me Strange New Worlds is good, but I was never that into TOS and I’ll be damned if I’m going through a singing episode.

I’ll be damned if I’m going through a singing episode.

You simply cannot see the wisdom of Mahanit.

I usually don’t like most singing episodes, but I liked the SNW one.

I was also never into TOS but SNW is great.

Lower Decks has become a comfort show.

So far discovery has held my interest, but there are so so many problems I have while watching it… My head cannon is that it’s an alternate time line that diverged thousands of years ago.

I don’t see myself watching Picard. I feel like Star Trek TNG left it at a good point with Insurrection (apologies to people who hated it, but it was my introduction to star trek and has a special nostalgia that I get to laugh about the terrible and/or poorly written parts)

Also I pretend nemesis doesn’t exist.

DISCO is confirmed as an alternate universe per LD.

Edit: Insurrection is a great 2 part episode with a bigger budget.

Damn, I totally forgot about that bit!

Honestly I have only seen the final episode twice. I’ve seen all of season one about 10-13 times.

That is a perfect description of Insurrection.

I fast-forwarded through the singing episode, but the others were good. ESPECIALLY the lower decks crossover episode.

The singing episode was great, personally was the second highest point SNW got to for me, behind the lower decks one.

I had a flashback of a Discovery episode that ends with a party with loud music, and the final shot is of the entire ship, and the music could be heard muffled, from outside, Discovery playing disco music traveling in the vacuum.

I swear they did shit like that just to piss off trekkies, they were too consistent to be random.

Did you know that the space ship from Star Trek wasn’t actually called the “Star Trek”?

SME Patrick Stewart revealed that on a thing I watched earlier.
