He drew a swastika next to a AfD candidates name. Not sure what the big deal is, they are straight up Nazi’s. Doesn’t seem like he should feel compelled to resign for calling a spade a spade.

The big deal is that he broke the law. In some countries that’s the end of a political career.

When is half of the Bundestag stepping down then? They broke all sorts of rules but sometimes got rewarded instead.

Seems like he should stay in goverment and fix the law then. Identifying nazis as nazis should not be a crime.

Seems like pretty stupid law, feels like this is the type of speech that should be protected

How does one discern support or protest. 2 people can stand on the street holding a sign with a sign with a politicians face and a swastika background.

One could mean this is a NAZI, don’t vote for him.

The other could mean this is a NAZI, vote for him.

Politician says oh I don’t identify as a Nazi 😉, at their rallies and you legally have a Nazi party running openly again.

Note, obviously you could hang flags and banners on your house, business, etc… because it is just saying that guy is a spade.

IDK man. AfD are the ones raging against “political correctness” here. Dude decided to not be politically correct and label the Nazis Nazis.

I don’t know what the fuss is about. It’d be a different matter if the person who had drawn the swastika had voted for the AFD candidate. However, clearly this was done in a disparaging manner

Why did he admit to it? It doesn’t seem like they would’ve figured it out if he hadn’t since it was a secret vote.

I am pretty sure he stepped down to protect his parliamentary group. If he hadn’t taken one for the team the AfD would’ve scandalised this topic even more and may have damaged the SPD and / or the Green party.

Why? He draw a swastika next to the name of a fascist. Is this the kind of thing that would typically result in prison time?
