A patient paralyzed for two years due to a spinal cord injury regained ability to stand and walk independently after undergoing a groundbreaking surgery, HuaShan Hospital Fudan University announced on March 3.The patient is the world’s first total paraplegia to restore walking ability through minimally invasive brain-spine interface (BSI) technology.     This is only in 4 patients so far yet the results look amazing. 20 million people globally are living with some form of spinal cord injury. Hopefully insights gained from this work will quickly mean treatments for what was once seen as incurable.
