Trump wants his money, sure but the attention he takes away from trump will be his undoing. Pence and Rude were toadies, but Ketamine Elmo isn’t gonna play that.

Considering how much trump has been allowed to get away with, this seems unrealistic. Billionaires are simply untouchable.

But Trump is still 100% about himself, so the second Musk is unable to do what Trump wants from him he’ll turn on him too. And Pence got his religious following (and the beginning of his cult - help put him between God and his base), and Guialani was in charge of lies/propaganda (to feed the cult). They both served their purpose for Trump until he no longer needed them.

The difference is they both got their power directly through Trump. That makes them replaceable.

I won’t say Trump won’t start feuding with Musk at some point (the man clearly has issues with self control) but the dynamic is very different. Musk’s wealth and followers make him powerful independent of Trump’s whims. I expect Trump will be more careful not to alienate him.

Agreed. If anything, Musk has just bought himself a politician. Trump will be beholden to him, much like he is with Russia.
