Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your least favourite thing about the fediverse or lemmy?English
2·16 hours agoI think these are good ideas speaking broadly, but are quite extensive in terms of implementation and getting them right.
Organization would be mutual. Moderators of each have to approve to join and remain in the hierarchy, though the “initial structure” of the community could be set up by admins I suppose. The sub community inherits “global” rules from their parent communities, but can have their own rules as well.
What do you mean by this part? That if I as a mod of television@piefed.social incorporated another community into this hierarchy they’d essentially be a feeder community and I’d effectively be a mod of that community?

7·16 hours agoIt’s not karma farming there in many cases, it’s just trying to support the Fediverse.

PieFed help@piefed.social•what do I do if a post doesn't federate?English
5·3 days agoWe may have some problems here. @rimu@piefed.social None of the posts I’ve posted to !television@piefed.social have federated.

PieFed Meta@piefed.social•How does PieFed improve voting compared to Reddit/Lemmy?English
6·4 days agoTo warn you, downvoting is public on the forumverse, so if you are perceived as reflexively downvoting at scale in a community- you risk getting community banned.

PieFed Meta@piefed.social•How does PieFed improve voting compared to Reddit/Lemmy?English
11·5 days agoTo stop seeing the content with that setting. it’s faster than opening the post.
Downvoting won’t achieve that. Just block the community its from if it is consistently a source of posts you’re not interested in.
It’s added now. Just kept saying “not found” when I tried to pull it in.
@rimu@piefed.social this community doesn’t seem to want to add to piefed.social.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The same people who rage against authority love moderating communities where their ideology is the only one allowedEnglish
1·8 days agoLemmy/Piefed is far more resistant to bad actor community capture by a capricious moderator. Instance admins are usually far closer to the day-to-day operations and thus have their pulse on their communities in a way that reddit admins do not. Secondly, the federative nature of it means that any community can be replicated elsewhere.
Fucking AI tools man.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Some may find this amusing and interesting: Digg doesn't seem to be as active as the Fediverse.English
6·11 days agoThe problem was that they launched with barely any mod or curation tools, and haven’t really added anything since. Rimu, just one guy, should not be having a better development cycle than something like Digg after launch - especially when most of the things they need to add are pretty basic currently.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think is a realistic peaceful solution to the China-Taiwan issue?English
1·12 days agoIt doesn’t. You can identify as Taiwanese and still think that Taiwan and China are one.
Sure, but it is indicative - that’s the point. And in actual polling specifically, when you omit status quo - 25% of people in Taiwan want to “move towards independence” as opposed to 8% who want to “unify”.
I think it’s pretty apparent that most Taiwanese people, whether or not they believe in a ‘one China’ or not don’t want to live under the PRC, and additionally don’t believe it’s really plausible to retake the mainland under ROC control.

10·12 days agoMaking an account and subscribing to it on every instance.
But someone has uses lemmy-federate and done it for you, so now it should be visibly mostly everywhere.
You may want to also use !newcommunities@lemmy.world and !communitypromo@lemmy.ca too if you want to reach every possible instance by alerting people on them.
It’s the other admin from lemmynsfw who has taken it up.

I think identity in this sense says something, right?

I lost half my subscribers due to some bizarre federation/piefed bug.
