    I binged the season the other day and based on the last episode it’s an obvious series finale.

    It sounds like cost is probably the biggest reason. Plus he’s already working on an animated series (to take place after the films). Plus Seth has too many projects already, he needs to focus on the Orville next.

      Yea, the Orville was really one of my favorite spiritual successors to Star Trek. He dropped it to work on Ted and is now dropping ted.

      I love sci-fi and wish he would go back to Orville, it’s always a shame when they spend a few seasons building out an interesting universe, get past the superficial stuff and have compelling and well developed characters and societies in which you can tell interesting stories and then go, “well this is getting pricey, fuck it”

        Netflix would do well to look at it as an IP to purchase. It’d be it’s own alternative to Star Trek and build up it’s SciFi offering.
