What I am saying is that based on this twitter spat I would not call her a holocaust denier. You are free to make your own judgment.

Thanks for the source although I think that’s quite specific. It seems mostly about her being ignorant and doubling down on her war against trans people rather than a blanket denial of the holocaust which the term “holocaust denier” conjures
Your article frames it this way:
While Rowling has not denied the Holocaust itself happened, she is accused of engaging in a form of Holocaust denial for questioning the persecution of trans people under the Nazi regime, a fact which has been well documented
I’m not denying she’s a cunt but I think it’s important to be precise with these sorts of allegations.
I don’t see anything about holocaust denial in your link. There’s a 2018 article discussing parallels between her work and the real holocaust but it doesn’t claim she’s a denier. I don’t really care for Rowling but I also don’t like misinformation. If there is some evidence can you please share it?

The fact that in the UK you can be found guilty by a jury for vandalism and a judge can then unilaterally promote this to terrorism is chilling. If the Courts and Tribunals Bill passes the jury portion could be skipped altogether.

13·1 month agoI think you’re jumping the gun a bit. They’re just saying that requiring a phone number added a barrier against spammers and they want to be sure this change doesn’t open the flood gates.
From the article:
"We gotta figure out some way to induce a cost for signing up without a phone number”, Kret said.
It’s unclear whether this means that registration without a phone number will become a paid feature.
However, “cost” does not necessarily mean a monetary fee; it could also refer to another barrier designed to prevent abuse.

World News@lemmy.world•‘Blood for Blood’: Tehran Billboard Displays Trump Family in Coffins Amid Rising US-Iran TensionsEnglish
14·2 months agoGood call. I observed the same a while back and have them tagged as “low quality”. They removed at least one previous post of theirs when the poor source became a talking point in the comments. This site is trash.

Low quality article from The Guardian. Pretty much entirely composed of quotes from the family with no independent corroboration. According to The Canary (so take it with a pinch of salt) a former Guardian journalist recently admitted to publishing a wholly false anti-Iran story back in 2010 so I’m a bit more skeptical than usual.
I tried finding more detail and it was mostly trash sites republishing the same content but I did find this article from an Iranian human rights group based in the US (again, pinch of salt) that has some more detail. According to them these twins are part of the “Isfahan Shohada Square case”.
It’s a bit murky. I don’t really know what to make of it. Are these inflated charges against legitimate protesters or is there more to it?
If I can find this context through a quick Google though why can’t The Guardian?
