Lemmy.World Announcements@lemmy.world•Took a peek on Reddit, it really boggles my mind how oblivious and obedient people are.
1·2 days ago3 years later, half-year users is trending down.

From 3,000 half-year active users to 66,000 with negative growth. Lemmy’s proposition is not enough.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Lemmy probably feels like Reddit when it first started, all warm cuddly and friendly to newcomers eager to discuss and collaborate around central topics.
1·2 days agoIs this satire? Lemmy is filled with holier than though attitudes over simply topics and simply things like INTREPRETATION, TONE, and whether someone was speaking in BAD FAITH.
At least on Reddit, people are just stupid instead of actively meta-arguing.

1·2 days agoSo you’re just moving goal posts after implying that being province first is unpatriotic? You’re just being crazy, like great job enforcing the idea that Lemmy is full of nutjobs compared to the already biased Reddit.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Stray performance issues on Linux mint laptopEnglish
1·2 days agoTo use Linux means you’re willing to put up with relatively new issues
What a broken mindset when Mint is literally glazed as being usable.
“relatively new issues.” LOLOL. Yeah please keep coming up with excuses for how Mint wasn’t responsible for bricking the NTFS file system (last updated 2001) of my hard drive (2022) after just a few months of using the drive with Mint when it was working fine with Windows for almost 4 years.
But if that’s too much
Yeah imagine lacking the self-awareness that you think normal people talk like this in real life. If you think being passive aggressive by default is normal, then you’re either anti-social or mentally deficient.
Of course it’s too much when Mint not only can’t be used for couch gaming but it also can’t be used for HTPC since it bricks an NTFS hard drive. Oh wait, don’t tell me you’re now going to victim blame and say how I should’ve reformatted the drive when I decided to daily drive Mint as an HTPC.
I already daily drive Fedora KDE on my PC; I don’t need someone being condensing and passive-agressive just because I dared insult Mint for being worse than Windows 11.

24·2 days agoConservatives are province first. Not really a gotcha compared to headline.
EDIT: being upset by my comment is a sign of a low ability to think critically. “Lemmy users try not to replicate Reddit echo chamber speed run any %.”

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Stray performance issues on Linux mint laptopEnglish
11·4 days agoHuh? I was implying Mint shouldn’t be so highly recommend. But okay start being toxic. Why switch distros when I can just use Windows and delete Mint 😂.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Stray performance issues on Linux mint laptopEnglish
12·6 days agoLinux Mint being the top distro recommended by searching the internet really does not help the broader “year of the Linux desktop” goal. Like I think we are there for the right distro if you skip disk encryption and opt for home drive encryption, but that itself is not easy info to come by.
For example:

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Stray performance issues on Linux mint laptopEnglish
1·6 days agoI mean on the PC i built in December, I learned my lesson over the 5+ years of distro hopping and I’ve been the least disappointed with fedora KDE.
Unfortunately I had my dual boot Linux setup from years ago on this laptop and just didn’t want to nuke it till now (slow internet speeds that needed 3 reboots, no drag n drop, this gaming throttling issue, hard drive filesystem corruption). And now windows 11 is working as desired so I’m just going to single boot till I need Linux desktop on an old gaming laptop.

32·6 days agoKey word deleted. I got down voted for not providing specs and distro.
And yeah I’ve been trying to abandon Reddit but I guess that makes me a troll. I posted a second question regarding my hard drive on reddit because the first post got too much Linux defenders. I’ll probably post the question here too, to see which community is more helpful.

212·6 months agoLook either use antifascist or gtfo here trying to double play the meaning of words by using Antifa. I’d hope CAF members are smart enough to identify with being against fascism without aligning themselves to antifa. Seriously, in the context of the article antifa is the left wing political movement. For you to claim otherwise just comes off as being facetious.

15·6 months agoIntruder as in someone who breaks into a residence. Trespassing is not enough according to Canadian law. And Canadian law already punishes excessive force (there was a conviction regarding a case in recent years where the victim had chased the intruder and thus became a criminal themselves). So you’re literally just fear mongering

This is more useful for me. Shows the effect of Reddit blackout but also user activity dwindling/stabalizing since then instead of growing.
