I want Touch ID back on my iPhone.
I use it for the silent alarm clock feature.
I’d say just use Signal, but nobody listens.
Anyway, RCS is a big deal, and a good thing, overall.
It just works.
I’m older now, and busy.
When I was younger, I fiddled with all the tech things, and spent many fun hours doing so. For example, I was into Linux way before Linux was cool, re-building streamlined kernels, tweaking my XF86Config parameters to squeeze the most juice out of my Trinitron CRT, piddling with my modem’s AT commands, fooling around with my sound card’s settings, tweaking my Enlightenment desktop to look as hacker and badass as possible, all that stuff.
A decade (or whatever) later, when Android came out, I did a similar thing with it (but maybe scaled back a bit). Customized and tweaked all the things I could.
These days, though, I just want something that works. Technology isn’t a toy for me anymore, but a tool.
With Apple, I get a rock-solid Unix desktop that just works, paired with mobile devices that just work. I happily pay for the premium, even though I don’t always love Apple’s decisions. Nothing’s perfect, but the Apple ecosystem is good enough and works well.
