It’s the opposite, you would appear frozen at the event horizon to any observer and if you were lucky enough to be facing away from the event horizon as you fell in you would see everything else speed up. And according to Crash Course you’d see ALL OF TIME pass. So that’s cool.
Finding joy in the small things. The way my dog stretches, smiling at a stranger, smelling a flower, a nice cup of coffee, a smile from a stranger, etc. Making the time and going out of my way for these small moments of joy is important to me.

Hmmmm what are your thoughts on this? I thought it was interesting and very opinionated. The authors are definitely clear on their stance. I’ll admit, I skimmed bits and read others, but it felt more like this essay was comprised of things they just wanted to get off their chest and not a means to try and sway any detractors. Which maybe was the point, but it left me wanting.

Sorry, I’m not trying to make a factual argument. You are 100% accurate, if I actually came across a bear I would probably be killed. It’s a thought experiment, think along the lines of Schrodeinger’s cat. It’s an unknowable quantity: is this man going to hurt me, is he going to be nice? Is this bear going to maul me, is this bear going to ignore me? Point being, when some people see an unknown male I can understand why some would react as if they came across a large predator in the woods. All hypothetical, but again it’s a social commentary about the deep-seated fear of males. Which is sad.

Really? I don’t think it’s reinforcing the patriarchy. I think it’s pretty funny, a satirical commentary on the unfortunate truth that most people don’t feel safe around males. Like, bruh, I’m a dude, but I’d rather see a bear than another man if I was on a solo backpacking trip.

Never have, but my assumption is that the concentrated flavor from the long steep time would mask any slight change the hot water might add. However, could be fun to have a thing of extra concentrated cold brew and a separate thing of hot water prepared coffee and combine the two before drinking. Play around with the ratios a bit to find the dopest mixture 🤌
Hmmm well I would think of those more as descriptors, which I suppose the label “trans” is, but are there any people that would prefer to be seen as their chosen gender without the need of the additional label? I have a friend that has transitioned from female to male and I don’t think of them as a trans man. He’s a man and has always been a man to me.
Do individuals that have transitioned from a gender other than the one they were born into really identify as “trans” or is that what society has classifed them as? I think ideally they would all be accepted and viewed as their preferred gender without the trans qualifier attached to them.

The first Dark Souls. At the time I had played Demon’s Souls, but didn’t really play games for the challenge so I was very much not used to those types of games. Was also a diehard FPS player.
But a good friend, the same one that introduced me to Demon’s Souls, gifted me Dark Souls. It was a game a genuinely enjoyed, but couldn’t quite find my groove. I’d create a character, get to a certain point, then feel lost or too frustrated to proceed. So I’d stop playing for a few months, then pick it up again and roll a new character.
This trend repeated for a while, and I DID progress farther every time. Eventually, I hit a wall with one of the bosses and raged quit. So fast forward to my inevitable return to the game, instead of starting over I just went right back to that boss and tried again, and again, and again… and actually won?! That was the moment I feel like my gaming potential was awakened.
From Software fanboy, but also truly invested in a good challenge.
