Yeah Homepod is kind of a niche product as is, just adding a speaker and siri support to a Wi-Fi router would make more sense.
Not a lot to look forward to in a refresh, remote seems like it’ll stay after the silent USB C update. Faster processor of course, maybe they’ll redo pricing again but if anything they’ll remove more than the Ethernet port for the cheaper model. Faster processor is always nice, but won’t have any real world impact. Add to that there’s no guarantee the new models are that close, they tend to release in the fall, I’d buy now personally.
Yeah they’ve been building a bad spot in terms of their ram. They use the excuse of it being an SOC, but the reality is that means the GPU is actually using the same ram, and it’s even more important to have a base configuration that’s decent.
Also even worse since they bumped the M3 Pro base ram to 18GB.
Exactly, Apple is always enticing you to upgrade, that $1800 model is decent, but at $2000 you have even more ram (since the M3 Pro is now 18GB) and a slightly faster chip.
Not really, discounting the 13 inch MacBook Pro that also has 8GB of ram, the cheapest MacBook Pro with Pro chips was and is still $2000. Now the M3 base chip is $1600 for the Pro, and even accounting for the jump to 16GB of ram (nobody should be buying that 8gb of ram model) it’s still only $1800.
Then again the 15 inch MacBook Air is only going to be $100 cheaper than the same specs Pro models. (And why they’re redundant but that’s another story.
There should be a tiny speaker in the remote and not only giving menu sounds but for finding when lost would be great. But then again they should add at least some accessory support with the now USB C ports on the remotes, so yeah they don’t think about it for convenience.
My TV is in a room where I can watch from the couch, side room, kitchen, or even outside on the deck. I usually know where I’ve left the remote though only really having to search for it once in a while.
Up to $200 gift cards with product purchase, and they seem to be advertising the out of date Mac and iPhone models, so current models (those that just released at least) aren’t even eligible.
I’m basic Apples Black Friday isn’t worth mentioning anymore and it’s better to go to retailers sales.
At that point, which has the better ram?
Yep, on the 2015 model and as long as the software supports it and my 15 year old TV doesn’t fail(to need a 4k replacement), I’ll continue to use mine.

That’s the one thing Apple still struggles with in iOS, is customization of the small things like notification sounds, they’ll make random changes on their end, but nothing that the users can accept or even revert back on.
Last I checked Apple does $700 for a screen repair, if you’re not under Apple Care and can’t join in the first 30 days/90 days?, then it’s nearly half the price of the laptop to repair.
That’s true, nowhere close to what Bootcamp offered before though.
Agreed, the end of the touch bars unfortunate demise, but it had far outlived the Pro title, and I was expecting a rebrand around its’ model rather than the 15 inch airs introduction. Also If take the larger bezels over a notch anyway, but I know that’s subjective.
The current Air is clearly a better deal though given it’s price now.
If you need Windows support, yes since they’re the only ones with Bootcamp, and the MacBook Pros(15/16 at least) still have bigger screens than the Air if you want that.
One is newer than the other, so…it’s the easier choice.
Apple Tax is high when taking into account currency conversions, especially when factoring shipping back to the US some products you’d be paying close to double. It’s the case where foreigners will try to buy Apple products when visiting the US to save the money.
