Good coaches put their players in position to succeed. A WR screen on 2nd and 6 with the game on the line is not gonna do it. Put your QB in must throw position 3rd and 10 where D can drop into coverage. JF1 can’t fumble (obviously) but he should never have been in that situation.
Goff? Watson?
I thought the team and Eberflus improved after the Denver collapse and he’d be back with Fields for year 3. But, after the Detroit collapse, I am convinced they all have to go. I think they retain Poles. They try to trade Fields. They draft a QB and MHJ in 1st round. DLine, OLine, Secondary with remaining picks. And rebuild continues with upgraded coaching staff. I don’t think Kevin Warren will allow Poles to run it back or stick a new HC with Fields. Shit, Warren may even convince them to fire Poles at this point.
Hearting about a guy named The Fridge.
Imagine these unis at home and the crowd goes white out too!
Adapt to the players you have. Eberflus has shown progression and adaptability on the defensive side of the ball. Getsy has shown he is reluctant to make permanent changes to his scheme to fit one of the most talented QBs this franchise has ever seen. Barring an sudden change of heart from Getsy, I’d stay the course with Wberflus and find a new OC. ESPECIALLY if the plan is to draft a QB, you cannot proceed with Getsy.
What is going to happen if Bears go 1-2 in the draft with Caleb and MHJ…but Caleb is a bust and Maye was the right choice? That would be 3 first rd QBs in a row that Chicago has gotten wrong. On the other hand, what if they go 1-2 with Caleb and MHJ and the entire trajectory of this franchise is forever changed!
I downvote all Caleb posts automatically. It’s ridiculous to be banging our heads against the wall of the draft since day 1 of the season.
…and he fired Getsy? No? Damnit.
I have no doubts about the Bears being 2-2 WITH Fields if he had been healthy the last 4 weeks. That argument is trash. Bagent did great backup work for the Bears. He answered a LOT of questions about his ability and the staff’s trust therein. That being said, Fields needs to pick up where he left off and not hinder the progress being made. If they lose, it needs to be in spite of his play, not because of it.
No. I don’t know many teams he can go to where they’d cater to his style of play. If he doesn’t improve in Chicago he’ll show the league he’s incapable of adapting to the NFL.
I think the front office is a lot more patient than the fan base. Poles and Flus at minimum get another year to cook. I suspect Fields will too. If the roster improves again in the offseason the rebuild continues for a third year. Remember, Poles sold this as building the roster the “right way” and ownership intends on letting him do just that.
This sub’s head is going to explode when Fields starts next season under Coach Flus.
They are not the worst team in the league. They can’t even be bad correctly! /s
You have Forte on one side and Stewart on the other. WTH are these teams passing for?
People keep saying this. Does anyone have an article to back that up?
So he’s saying there are only 2 players on the roster that are worth keeping? C’mon man!
This is the problem…you can’t hold this regime accountable after 1.5 seasons. I know everyone wants to can Eberflus, including me. But they likely won’t. Year one was clearing the roster. Year two is in progress. Year three you should see the plan coming together and year 4 is competitive. Remember, Poles has preached he wants to build this team for sustained success. That doesn’t happen in 1.5 seasons. Now, to answer your question: IF I assume Flus gets fired (which I don’t) and Poles picks a new coach and they still stink, you give him year two with the new coach. This fallacy that teams are world beaters after 2 years is ridiculous.
Chargers showing no guts. They easily convert on 4th there. No chance the Bears stop them.
I love the Bears. I have for a very long time. But, I absolutely hate that they won that steaming pile of shit game. They deserved to lose that game. They handed it to the Vikings at every turn and the Vikings refused to take the W.
